Straw Open Road showed up today. It's not a vintage Panama one, it's a cheap shantung one that I won't worry about sweating through, which is what I'm doing to it already.

just showed up at the studio and this Churchill 25 was here waiting for me
I had no idea what to expect because admittedly I know next to nothing about Churchill ... I am pleasantly surprised

The hat is superbly constructed and the felt is very nice

What is most interesting to me is the color.
The color is called "Natural"
It is sort of taupe... but very much has some almost sage green undertones... great color.
the true color does not show up in these photos

The hat appears to be completely unworn and to never have been creased

I don't think I will crease it any time soon because I am undecided as to whether I will keep it or not... it is slightly loose on me.... we'll see
Honestly it wasn't love at first sight

as I said I know next to nothing about Churchill hats so I don't know what era it is from... but the price tells me 60s?.... possibly 70s .... no idea

Another virgin. Can I be #2...???

Here is a Dobbs "Daskin" I just picked up. Nice rich brown, 2 inch very dark brown ribbon, with a sort of dark olive bound edge 2 1/2 inch brim. Binding is very interesting....1/2 inch under the brim, little over a 1/4 inch on the upper brim. Brim is really heavily flanged.....2 inch sweat......about 5 1/2 open crown......fits great!!!!!!
I am thinking late 50's early 60's??
Cheers,
M

Nice! Is it a 3/8? Hard to tell from the tag. Really smooth looking.
