These things are always matters of preference. I like the stingy brim with short crowns. Pork pies and homburgs, for instance, work fine with stingy brims, in my opinion. As soon as the crown gets a little too tall and tapered, I don't care for stingy brims. To my preference, your hat is too tall in proportion to the brim width. It has nothing to do with your head. I would feel the same about this hat on anyone, particularly me. No criticism here or argument. Just a statement of preference.

This Tonak came in last night. It's beat up and dirty but wow this felt is impressive. It also had a wider ribbon on it at some point.

Super find! Thats an early TONAK. You can see that they just replaced Hückel with TONAK on the liner label. J. Hückel´s Söhne was nationalized as TONAK after WWII. Was it an eBay find? Also what size?

It was an ebay purchase. It is a size 7 3/8. It's pretty dirty but man it really has nice felt.

They has it advertised as a "Jonak" (due to the semi-cursive T in the logo I'd guess) and I was the only bidder. Somehow my search picked it up.

Wow! Great going! It might even be late 40s. To find one in a large size and light color is something. JHS was known for great felt and finishes especially their Austrian Velours.

Kkaderly: I agree with fmw. The crown appears too tall. The brim is fine. It is hard to tell from the photo but I think if you just put a different, wider dent in the crown, it should help alot. Nothing ventured, nothing gained right? I like the color very much, just try to reconfigure your crown. That's my opinion, but who asked for my opinion, right?

I just received my Dark Olive, Cavanagh Edge , 100% beaver, custom made by Gary White. It is very dark. It is hard to pick up on any hue of green. Fluorescent light brings out a little hint of green. To show you what I mean, here it is between my Brown Cav. and a Black Borsalino. It has a black hassidic pleated bow. It is a heavier weight felt. Thank you Gary!

Here's another reason why snow sucks. I am in the heart of snowpocolips here in Chicago and because of the snow they closed the danged post office today. I was scheduled to get my Borsalino by Henry the Hatter today, dang it!!!

They closed nearly everything here and it's just a nice, snowy day. We don't have more than 2 new inches of snow and the ice isn't so bad.
