I was able to wrangle this Stetson export away from Stefan after minutes of heated negotiating - we all know he is a tough negotiator - and it is another beautiful bowler! I know there are a lot of vintage bowlers to be had, but the 30s Stetson bowlers have become my real sweet spot! Thank you Stefan @steur

Cool find, Joe. Your findings match my own on Stevens brand. Well enough made but somewhat stiff in the crown.

Thanks Stefan. I think it may be more true of Stevens westerns. The Stevens dress and summer weight felts I have handled appear to be a different animal. They may or may not have had factory pressed in creases.. but the felts were softer and thinner. A stiffer open crown may not have been a bad thing when it came to a western. Again though it is interesting as this would be part of the evolution of what would become Stetson branded manufacturing in the 70s.

There's no chance of me getting away with that, but compared to everyone else in the hat forums, I'm just a novice with about fifteen hats. On the other hand, Aloha shirts have reached the, "need for therapy," stage.

Took four years of hard searching, but I really like the one I ended up with. Embroidered liner makes it a bit nicer. Love the colors, too!
Had to upsize it two notches, though.
Wasn’t mint condition, but good enough.
It cleaned and shaped up nice with no loss of proportions.

The wait worth it.
Have all the brands covered—that I was interested in.
Now all I have to do is fix up about 15 hats that I have waiting to be restored or repaired that I can add into my collection and will be satisfied and can say I’m done.

(Though I may still buy “flip hats” if in great, or restorable condition—at a steal)
