Stefan (@steur ) was close in his guess that this one would turn out to be a Stetson Railbird, but it turns out to be an anonymous model that is very similar.

It does have the 2-1/4" brim with triple stitching, but the crown is a bit shorter at 5-1/4" (4-1/4" as creased).

For comparison, here is Anthony's ( @moontheloon ) former Railbird.

A beaut!

Goralnik Hat Co. out of Fall River, Massachusetts. Not sure on the date of this one. I find references to the company from 1923 to 1979. This one says "1950s" to me, but I could be off. Nice that that takes a dry crease easily. 2-1/2" brim, 5-1/2" crown. Shame about the mothing.

Circa 1960 Dobbs Twenty. 3" Guild Edge brim with a 5-1/2" crown. Yes, that is a moth hole ... not just a nip. A few nips on the top of the crown as well. A beauty of a hat with a flew flaws, but the biggest flaw is that it's not my size. I really like the felt/ribbon color combo and the proportions on this one.

See there? It isn't a moth hole, it's a place for your boutonnière.

I confess that I have let go of a lot of bowler hats in this period, I hope not to sadden FL friends in love with this hat.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 9.jpg

Some were interesting, but the often small size or the exaggerated price kept me away from them.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 7.jpg
This bowler hat has two features that attracted me.
It is a G.B. Borsalino fu Lazzaro and has a pleated bow that makes it less usual than others
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 interno.jpg
Second reason it has a quite unusual size 5 1/2 which is equivalent to a 58 cm.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 etichetta carta.jpg
It is well preserved and is, unlike many of its companions, light.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 6.jpg
These are the measures, the curled brims reach 5 cm ; the crown is 13 cm. and the ribbon measures 3 centimeters.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 particolare fiocco.jpg
There are some small flaws such as a slight deformation of the anterior brim visible in the photograph. A very slight trace of dust on the edge of the brims.
GB Borsalino bombetta 58 2.jpg
Many of you know that I don't have bowler hats in my collection, so anyone interested should write to me privately GB Borsalino bombetta 58 3.jpg
It's not like I find such pearls for medium-sized heads every day ;-)

A couple of great hats, gentlemen.

I bought this Borsalino because it was the first one I saw in this configuration.
Ematite Borsa 2.jpg
Then the size was the right one, perhaps with a little luck.
Ematite Borsa 5.jpg
So alas it seems not to be.
Ematite Borsa interno totale.jpg
Borsalino Antica Casa - Augusta size 6 (french point) or 59 centimeters which becomes a 7 3/8 in the US. A little tight
Ematite Borsa etichetta interna.jpg The felt is a Misto Ematite with a Piombo color ribbon.
I have never met an Misto of this color (Ematite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematite) with a very short fur felt finish and with two vents on each side.
Ematite Borsa 4.jpg
The color Piombo ribbon is pleated and the hem of the brims decorated with the same color.
Ematite Borsa 7.jpg
The measurements of this beauty are: the brims are 5.5 cm. the ribbon is 4 cm high. and the open crown is thirteen centimeters.
Ematite Borsa 6.jpg
Each side of the crown has two vents and has the same characteristics as a recent Panizza Steur found recently, also sold in Sicily, with slightly furry felt and four vents to mitigate the heat of the Mediterranean island.

Well, it's dang close to one and pretty sweet whatever it is. I saw that Moon's had blocknumber B702. From what I can tell mine has blocknumber B708 (or maybe B703?). Pity yours doesn't have a label.

Indeed a pity about the mothing, but it is the underside of the brim and it looks pretty good otherwise. Very nice!

Fantastic colour on that one and a lovely hat as a whole. Good to see a new Borsalino colour again.

Another one from the "pile". Herbert Johnson heather. The brim is 2-1/4" and the crown is 5" open. The size 7-1/4 tag was loose behind the sweat band.
