Mallory Aristocrat Quality
Warm Pewter Felt
4 3/4 Crown as shaped - 5 1/2 Open
1 3/8 Antique Pewter Grosgrain Ribbon
2 1/2 brim with 3/8 grosgrain binding

Hat number 7 of the Mystery Hat Box Nine. This may very well be my favorite of the lot. I would guess this was Mallory’s take on the Whippet. And what a fine job they did! A lot to like about this hat... the color of the felt, ribbon and binding to the dimensions and crease... it all just works in my eyes. The manufacturing tag has this hat labeled at 7 1/4 however for whatever reason it as a perfect size 7 fit. Two more hats to come from the Mystery box. They will be hard pressed to outshine this Malloy.

My favorite of the batch so far Joe, though I have the feeling I might need to reconsider soon ;)

Stetson Premier Lancer made under license in Germany, so a Mayser production. Some photos are Stefans and some are mine.

It's got a Pork Pie look about it, but the brim is wider than a usual PP so just has to be worn down. Great bronze colour with a rather nice, wide green ribbon that enhances the bronze colour of the felt and vice versa.

Didn't get around to all new hats yesterday, so today a few more. These have been shown by @Daniele Tanto briefly before.

Cambiaghi fedora in woolfelt. Size 56 with the brim at 6cm and the imposing crown at 11 cm at the center dent. The brim is somewhat stiffer than the crown and shapes well (the crown needed a bit more persuasion). The Italian hatters from Monza could work wonders in wool and this is one of those survivor hats. The workmanship on the sweatband is wonderful to see. Every bit of fluff can be seen on those black woolfelts though...

Nice Knox, Joe. Wish I could find a mystery box like yours. Looking forward to the next two.

Gorgeous, Joe. Has everything going for it.

Thanks guys! Any of the final three (as well as the first - Black Playboy) might be able to make their case for the top spot. But this Mallory just really ticks some boxes for me.

Another one.
Ursus in ossido colour. Likely made by Borsalino to corner the market and possibly dodge trading restrictions. This hat needs some love to be restored to full glory and it deserves that. Lovely felt and nice proportions. The original liner more or less fell apart under my hands, so I put in a temporary one. Size 57 with the raw edge brim at 6,5cm and the crown at 9,5cm at the center dent give this hat a sleek looking appearance.

Champ Feather Weight - Toast

Champ Feather Weight - Kasmir Finish
Toast - Medium Tan Felt
4 3/4 crown to peak as shaped
3/4 Champagne Grosgrain Ribbon
2 3/4 brim with 1/8 grosgrain binding
92 grams

Hat number 8 of the Mystery Box 9 a Champ FeatherWeight Kasmir Finish in a semi western style. I was happy to find this one as it is my first Champ other than a small 60s Stingy that was even a bit small for me. This unlined lightweight hat checks in at a fit trim 92 grams... fairly light considering it’s 2 3/4 brim. The black and gold Champ Featherweight scale logo on the sweat is fantastic. The felt color is “Toast” a medium tan. Hardly a blemish on this nearly pristine hat.

Love this one, Joe. As I kept going back over your photos I realized that the proportions are about what my 3 1/2” brimmed Gannon are in my size. It’s a favorite, and yours looks great on you.

Awesome. I have not seen such great work on the sweatband from Champ. Super sweet!
