Well, it wasn't cheap shipping it over, but I have to admit that it was fairly fast and there was no additional cost for import taxes. So all in all a bit of a mixed bag with Ebay's global shipping. Finally added a Borsalino Gorasgu to the collection. Have handled a couple of these before but so far one that fitted me eluded me.
Borsalino Gorasgu misto maroso in a size 7. Overwelt (with blind stitching) brim at 7cm and crown 10,5cm at the center dent, unreeded sweatband. The felt goes anywhere you want it to. As with most misto felts there's likely some wool content there, but from the hand it has you wouldn't know it. For now it has the usual center dent and side pinches, but I might go for a diamond in this one. Does need a bit of steam here and there, but I couldn't wait. Chuffed!

Hopefully worth the wait, Stefan, because that is a beautiful hat!

Good for you Stefan! A beauty.
I always say Gorasgu is a very nice model when i see them. So many variations yet each outstanding in their own right.
I’m a bit surprised you didn’t have any. All the more sweet now that you do.
Gorasgu is definitely one of my favorite Borsalinos by far!
Be well. Bowen

Thanks, Bowen. The reason I didn't have any is that the model is exclusive to the American market, so not one I would likely find here in the vintage stores or other auction sites than Ebay. And even on Ebay they're not that common. But I agree it is very attractive and I'm very glad I have one.

That's what I'm talking about, my friend! A steal at your purchase price and the bash you set looks exactly right for that hat. Hope you enjoy that one for many years ahead!

Looked fantastic this morning ! Really great condition after some cleaning. No moth bites or stains whatsoever.
I just did a quick bash and brim shape before getting dressed for work this morning. I kinda like it with the back down, a little Aussie style. Not a very good picture, but rainy morning so had to take it indoors.....

of course I have limited comparisons, but the felt is amazing. Very soft, yet thicker and stiffer than say the '41 Strat.
Really holds the shape well, but I'll get some steam to it to finalize the bash. I think it looks pretty close though.

I'm thinking 50's on the age, going by the size tag. Does this sound about right ?

Stefan that's wonderful! I was about to pull the trigger myself but shipping and imports were 2x times plus the hat's value. Now that I see your pics...I may should have done it :) Congrats!

A wonderful new addition to my stable and a first for me. A Kaller Super Boreal derby, 5 inch crown, 1 inch black ribbon, and a beautiful pleated liner. Thank you Stefan.

Thanks, Panos. I'm glad you didn't and equally glad I did! Had to swallow the extra cost of shipping and tax, but that seems to fade from memory quickly now!

This was the collect end of another hat-exchange. This one with Gary (@Dotneck ) who couldn't get this one to fit him. He was kind enough to trade it with me. So my thanks go out to him.
Wormser Royal Luxury in let's say "chalk". Size 7 with the bound brim at 6,5cm and the crown 10,5cm at the center dent. I wasn't all that impressed with my first Wormser, but this one makes more than up for it. Gills too! I picture this hat would be the result if my Caxton and Dobbs Hanover Square had a love baby. It's a glorious hat!
