A grand score especially for a large size.Hey everyone, having a silly big head (7 5/8) I don't normally get lucky finding second had thrift hats. Well I was in the goodwill the other day, and there was a very nice looking western hat. I don't wear western hats, just Bowers, flat caps, fedoras, Homburgs...this got me thinking, why don't I own a western hat?! Sure it's not my style, but there has to be a few occasions a year to don a 'cowboy hat' be it state fair, rodeo, you name it.
I walk up to the hat on display, and it looks like it was never used. In fact, it still had the original price tag inside the hat band and the cardboard insert inside! $349, and it came in the original purchase box, with the protective bag still inside. It is 6x beaver pelt, and long and behold, 7 5/8 size. The price listed? $60. A good deal! But it is a blue tag, and it is blue tag half off day. $30! Even if I dont have anywhere to wear it soon, I am glad I picked it up. Internet searching reveals not a whole lot about Serratelli aside from they are a higher end brand originating from my home state of NJ from the 1800's when they were fur trappers. I am pretty pumped, I will post pictures when I actually take some, so far it is very soft feeling, and very light. Incredible quality especially for what I paid.
Yeah, it's really a good looking hat.Awww...what a cutie pie!

Handcrafted by the Amish, beautifully made and detailed, more comfortable than a hat twice it's cost (literally!), and fits me...it fits ME!
I am home...

It's a nice one, it was too big for me, though. Plus, after I scored my Mallory Commander, that ticked some of the same color/style boxes. I hope the fit is good for you.Well, it is a beautiful hat, James! Thank you!

A little too big, but I am hoping it will be just right after some sweat [emoji29] during head time. [emoji2]It's a nice one, it was too big for me, though. Plus, after I scored my Mallory Commander, that ticked some of the same color/style boxes. I hope the fit is good for you.

Super looking bowler, Steve. Looks good on you, too. Win-win.C. W. Borchert Berlin W., 58cm, 145 grams possibly late 1920s early 1930s. This Stiff Felt is from the same seller + original owner of the P. & C. Habig Wien "Special", P. & C. Habig's "Special Qualität" Reine Handarbeit Berlin Friedrichstr. 82a Soft Felt. I know Rehfus & Cie. Kehl a. Rhein was a supplier for C. W. Borchert Berlin W so could have been made by them. It has some C. G. Wilke characteristics so they could also be a possible source. The overall quality is very high and it wears comfortably.
According to this 1913 ad Rehfus & Cie (Kehl a. Rhein) made hats under the Borchert Marke.
