Both are rare birds, Max. The Borsalino may even be more rare than the Dobbs Game Bird. I do like the look of that Dobbs though; very cool hat.More pics of my new Borsalino Safari. The listing said it was a size 7 that fit more like a 7 1/8, but after 4 hours on a custom band block it fits just fine. Maybe because the stitching in the back of the sweatband is torn. The listing also said there is no "apparent" moth damage, but there are some very shallow nibbles easily taken care of with some sand paper.
The stitching on the brim will have to be removed, as it is badly torn. I am thinking of asking Ignacio to curl the brim a little.
It is soiled and stained, but that will easily come off with Ignacio's Ethyl Perchlorate.
It often mystifies me why online sellers, even some of the best, like Jula and Roberto of City Vintage on Etsy, don't bother to give their hats a good white gas bath. It would increase the value.
The felt on the Brim is stiff and thick, but malleable, and the crown is soft.
