Echter Borsalino "Gulaela" Export Qualität, French Point Size 6 1/2, Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 3/8 inches probably later 1950s. The overall condition is excellence. The medium weight "Pomice/Pumice" color felt is fantastic. It easily dry creases and has an fine hand. I didn't take a photo of the paper label but it doesn't have the vertical "Borsalino" on the left side. "Export Qualität" was added around the mid to later 1950s and "Echter Borsalino" was dropped in the early 1960s. "Export Qualität" remained in use until the mid 1980s but eventually fell out of use after the original Borsalino factory was closed and the company was sold.

Porkie!! My first true stingy pork pie. This Stetson Royal Deluxe has all the bells and whistles. Very fine felt to hand, heavy winter weight. Rich chocolate brown. Embracing the stingy at 2" brim and a 4" pork pie crown. This hat is the referral from our own @Frunobulax . Such a guy! More pictures and details tonight when I get home from the theater.

Now you're talkin'! If only I could find one in my size...with a slightly taller crown...for a price I could live with without the hat needing a complete rework...and a Diamond crease... :p

Picked this one up last week. Tonak is not usually a brand I'm too keen on because of their wildly varying quality. This one is very nice though and I was especially caught by the nice proportions. Tonak Flex in brown. Bound brim at about 7cm and crown at 9,5cm at the pinch. No liner, but I'm working on that.

Pretty color. The felt looks nice. Can't wait to see those liners.

This one showed up yesterday. Stetson Open Road 4X. This baby has seen some action over the years! Comes complete with sweat stains, moth holes and a cracked up sweat band. I immediately treated the sweat band with leather conditioner to help save it, seemed to work. I wish the seller would have been more forthright about the moth holes, he mentioned it but didn't show good close up pics. I love the Fawn color. Overall it looks good from a distance!

After a late arrival home from a business trip today, I was thrilled to learn my new Dobbs Rosebud had been delivered! A great excuse to take off early and head home. Here it is. It's labeled 7-1/4 Long Oval, but it fits a little on the large side. I'm going to add a spacer or two and hope that it shrinks a bit.

I'm going to wear it the rest of the day!

Rick, I saw the listing & made note of the condition. I really like the color also. It is similar to Akubra's Taupe Fawn. In low lighting Taupe Fawn does turn a bit more brown than shown below. Michael R has one also. It's a great color & can be worn with most anything but gray.

Stefan, This one is from 1954 so still fairly early (after JHS). Tonak used better parts for American market hats and closer to JHS time wise the better (late 1940s early 1950s). I still have some really nice Tonak hats made for the domestic market (similar to this hat) into the late 1950s.

"Echt Panama" J. Pul Muntplein 5 Amsterdam, 59cm, Crown 5 inches, Brim 2 3/8 inches probably late 1950s maybe later. This hat was one of a recent 3 hat find that included a Rehfus & Cie. / Hutfabrikanten Homburg and a Echter Borsalino Homburg. I tend to think it was blocked and dressed locally. I really like the ribbon design and blocking / form.

Yeah Thanks, Lately I've been attracted to brown/brownish hats, so I had to have it. It'l be a out door camping type hat. I usually wear the brim snapped up on my hats, but this one has a 2 3/4" brim and I think it looks cool snapped down. The eBay ad also said it was late '60s early '70s... I think it's closer to mid '80s

Looks good to me. Those “older” but not really old hats that aren’t of the vintage that bring the big dollars can be a good deal. Some of my favorite hats have some moth damage.
