The previous owner replaced the sweat (sent the original sweat and reed with the hat) and put a liner in. The new sweat is very nice. The only thing I don't like is the hat band.
The previous owner also converted it to look like a fedora (different bash, and brim styling). Dinerman owned this hat at one point, and photos can be seen on his website here.
Has the brim been cut down? Should be a nice wearing hat and easy to return to a thin ribbon if you want to. Same store and block/depth as my recent furry clear nutria.
Can you read the LOTXXXX number on the back of the original sweatband?
Windsor, probably late 1950s, size 59cm. Not sure what German hat company made this hat but it's a very nice one and in great condition. More details in the German - Austrian thread.
Perry, Thanks! I took a look but have no idea if it's from the same source. Does yours have a paper label behind the sweatband? I am checking with a person I know in Germany regarding the German Windsor.
Hückel Weilheim Mercur Homburg, size 59cm 7 3/8, great condition, probably mid to late 1950s. I really like the look of this one. More details in the German - Austrian.
Nabbed this Susquehana Hat Co 'Hannay' velour fur felt fedora while in Bridport last week and I really like it. The fur felt's fine quality and has a lovely softness but still takes a bash / holds a brim shaping very well, the sweatband and liner are equally impressive, and it's a lot better than most new titfers available here in the UK.
The fella at T Snook said that the company, which is also based in the South West, had "changed hands a number of times". It'd appear that John Halifax in Somerset is the current owner...
Hey gang, I hope this is the right place for this. I got my granddaughter her first fedora as a Christmas gift, and, if I may say so, I think she rocks a stingy!
