Please school me on Schott Perfecto variants

Hi all,

New member here.

I am on a quest for a moto riding jacket and I have been reading and learning and trying different jackets lately.

I have narrowed down to Schott Perfecto (613 or 618) or Vanson (C2 or Continental Chopper).

I have tried on the following jackets and here are my findings:

Schott 613SH in size 38
- a bit longer than 613
- beautiful shine
- so stiff that the upper collar can't fold underneath the other upper collar when zipped all the way up

Schott 613 in size 38
- fits me quite well
- a tiny bit too much ease at chest area but not bad at all

Schott 618 in size 38
- same as 613 as they are identical in pattern and fit as I understand

Vanson C2 in size 38
- hefty substantial competition weight cowhide
- jacket length and the sleeves are a bit too long
- a bit too much ease at the chest area
- waist area fits me well so size 36 would likely be too tight

Then I learned that Schott made 613US for the Japanese market with different pattern/fit. Based on what I read, they are slimmer and shorter in general.

So I am wondering if I should focus on 613/618 in size 38 or consider 613US in size 38 or size 40.

Does anyone here know what the exact measurements are for the 613US in size 38 or size 40?

The other option is to simply get a made to measure C2 from Vanson.

Thanks very much for reading.

They're literally all the same, except for the Vanson C2. Schott Perfecto models are a rabbit hole of absolutely no consequence to you, as a wearer.

Also, don't get a made to measure leather jacket because it's never made to measure nor you need it. The OTR has got you covered.

This might be useful:
Also strange that C2 body length is too long for you. It seems so short to me! And extra sleeve length should be very nice for riding.

Thanks for the link to the video.

You are correct. The length of the C2 size 38 is 23.75" and the Schott 613 size 38 is 24" so the C2 is shorter.

But for some reason, the C2 felt longer when i tired it on perhaps due to their definitely longer sleeves which gave me an impression of too long overall but apparently that's not the case then.

You are right about longer sleeves better suited for riding, but the sleeves of the C2 are too long for my short arms as they get bunched up quite a bit once they are zipped, whereas the sleeves of the Schott 613 are fine in the riding position.

Thanks for that.

It seems that the shorter jacket and sleeves are welcoming but the sweep on the Japanese versions are not going to work for me.

You haven't mentioned if you're buying a brand new jacket from Schott themselves or used one and that's majorly important because none of the sizing suggestions are valid if we're not comparing the jackets from the same era.

Schott is constantly doing minute alterations to the patterns so one years 618 in, say, size 40 might have the exact same measurements as the 618 from two or three years ago and now, without the Schott forum and especially without Gail, pinpointing the production date has become more difficult than ever.

Even retailers might have jackets that fit differently between them, if they haven't sold out and stock up on a slightly earlier batch.

I've had Perfectos belonging to the same model, in the same size with back length of 24" and 26".
