What a wonderful piece!A hat stretcher I found in a German auction. Starting price was out of my reach, so not mine. But a very cool design I haven't seen before.

Yeh, I think that wooden one would get chewed up real quick.A different rounding jack. I prefer a metal blade backer.

My ex boss is a would be wood worker and always looking for projects. So I asked him to make me a 'belly board' like this. It works really well and I use it a lot. This winter when he is bored and looking for something to do I will get him to make me one with a more radical drop. Now if only I could convince him to make blocks and flanges!!!!It's ugly as all-get-out ... View attachment 447383
... but it works a charm.

Oh crap! Tempting, tempting!!!!
If you're a tinkerer these are great projects to sink your teeth into. Quite a few of them are in poor shape and they're more fragile than you'd think. This one recently sold for $750 at auction. Some issues.

The thought of buying one and refurbishing it is intriguing to me.....but probably should not venture down that rabbit hole!If you're a tinkerer these are great projects to sink your teeth into. Quite a few of them are in poor shape and they're more fragile than you'd think.
