Aero does remove VAT but don't you worry DHL will charge it to you along with the customs.

Well, yes.
That´s exactly how it should be.
- Aero does not have to pay British VAT on overseas sales. They deduct the respective amount from the jacket price making it "cheaper" for overseas customer.
- National VAT is payable once the sale or service crosses the tax border. It is then applied to the total value of the good (jacket plus shipping).
Many other sellers just ship their products at a "gross" price and pocket the national VAT (or lack the know-how to make separate tax-records for on-and offshore sales). You then have to pay again to your local tax office, effectively making the jacket 20% plus more expensive.
