You need to get in touch with Carrie, who is a member here.

It has been a few years since I ordered, but as I remember, I sent them payment and my measurements. Carrie and Wade sent a test jacket, and we tweaked from there.

Using the fit jacket removes the fear that the jacket won't fit properly. It is a painless process.

I contacted them about a custom vanson Daredevil but the cost quickly spiraled out of control.(Nearing 1800 for average leather) Mind you I recently ordered a badalassi Aero direct with no issues and a high but expected high price. Basically vanson was going to have to make me a completely custom one-off lol. I'm 6'4" 215lbs... They made me feel like Shaq. Id almost expect it from a Japanese company like Rainbow but not an American one. Does Thurston ever discount or have sales on stock products?

I would avoid the Thurston "fit" process. I got talked into it by people here.

The reality is they will decide what model of jacket they think "fits" you better and override your order accordingly. Buyer beware. I've had no such issues ordering direct from Aero. And those jackets fit better!

I've went down a rabbit hole a few years ago and learned to measure myself and my clothing preferences. I couldn't believe how limited vanson was on sizing for the cool jackets. My only question still is how much the import tax is going to be lol

I think Vanson direct might be much more affordable for a custom. When I was dealing with them it was a flat 15% surcharge on top of the stock jacket price.

I think there's some degree of saving the customer from themselves, but I hear you. I had a situation where one of the measurement specs I ordered was completely ignored, and they were prickly about making it right, which blew my mind actually.

Same thing happened to me with a Thedi I ordered through them. P2P and shoulder measurements were both way off and I had to push back hard on the gaslighting and hand wringing to get a remake.
