Music has big therapeutic properties.

When my grandmother was still alive, after she moved to the nursing home, I would visit her every now and then (every week, every fortnight, etc). And I would play music for the people who lived there. I would play jazz standards on the piano. And the reactions were always very positive.

I didn't play that crappy 'old people music' like singalongs and hymns and stuff like that which clueless people think that they listen to all the time and enjoy. I played stuff like "Blue Moon", "Ain't Misbehavin'", "Fly Me to the Moon", "Moonlight Serenade" and all that stuff. And they loved it. It really brightened up their days.

I don't know if there's any Apple connection, but this is a professionally produced film. It features Oliver Sacks, who wrote the book that the film "Awakenings" was based on. He's a very famous neurological researcher.

Ok, thanks. There's a couple reasons why I asked. I'm glad that no direct connections have been made to Apple, that would really concern me. The professional video thing doesn't bother me.

As far as reacting to music, that's great. :) It would be great if more centers and caretakers tried this.

That was a very heart-warming and inspirational piece. This man apparently non-verbal for much of the time, was able to come back into himself for a while after listening to (his?) music. Beautiful.

I saw this on Facebook, it's really wonderful. Music has a way of reaching the soul, it seems. Like when you hear a song and it takes you back to a a specific time and place.
