I do enjoy the off topic smiley's face, its so serious.

You know the problem with buying new because you think it looks vintage? When you get it you realize it looks nothing like vintage...

fer instance, I just bought a silk sport coat online, and I got it and it has an 80's cut to the double breast... so now I'm taking it to the tailor to see if there is a way to salvage it.

Its frustrating starting a collection.

Here's the coat, if anyone has suggestions: the material is fantastic, I hate to give up on it.

So here is a thought about the purpose of this thread, like I did above, we can post pictures of recent or pending purchases for others to see our not like new but like vintage clothing.

As I said before that coat has potential, I just need to work with it some.

You could try replacing the buttons. That can do a lot for a jacket. Try brown, white, brass, nickel, leather-covered, etc.

Its a good idea, I'll look into it.

I'd like to mess with the placement of the buttons, to give it more of a 50's coat look, but I'm leaving that to the tailor.
