Samuel Franklin Cowdery (1867 - 1913) who changed his name to S. F. Cody & claimed to be William F. Cody’s son. Cowdery relocated to Europe where he tried to establish his own Wild West Show but ended up in theater. He died at the young age of 46 in a crash while working on the manned flight of a war kite to replace reconnaissance hot-air ballons for the British before WWI. It is said the kite broke apart with Cowdery & an observer aloft at 200 ft.

My grandfather in the 1940s, picture taken having arrived in the big city about to head to Greece to take part in a transatlantic cattle drive. Loaded up livestock ships with cattle to take to Europe to help the war effort.
Not sure what specific model hat he’s wearing here, but he was always a Stetson man through and through so I believe it is a Stetson of some kind. Would be an early to mid 40s style.

My great great grandfather Henry Wells Hoxsie in 1937 after the 30 acre farm his family had owned in Charlestown, Rhode Island since 1698 was taken by eminent domain by the State of Rhode Island to build Burlingame State Park. The State paid him $350. Initially used as the site if the CCC camp for the men who built the Park, it is now the location of the park playground and and arcade. Henry Wells Hoxsie died of heartbreak not long after the photo was taken
