What sort of stuff crashed? Some websites won't open in Firefox, but all of your stored internet settings, (cookies, passwords, favorites, etc.) can be imported into Firefox. Just click on "file", then "import" on the drop down menu.

No, this was different. After she dowloaded Firefox and began to use it (she loved it, by the way), several of her other programs (photo-shops, print-shops, etc) started crashing for no apparent reason. When she got rid of Firefox, no more problems. I've not heard of anyone else with this same problem.

Maybe she doesn't have enough RAM and / or hard drive space to run those applications while Firefox is running? Could be her processor or video card can't handle the load also,...lots of possible hardware factors. I know Photoshop and Printshop both require a lot of resources to run. I haven't tried running either my self since I got Firefox,...

Update:
Just opened Photoshop while online and had no trouble. Performance monitor indicated I was using 656 MB of RAM and 30% of processor... roughly 1/3 of my PC's resources,...no crash,...

As it has just been said be a number of things ,low RAM windows automatically increases the virtual Ram ( uses the hard disc instead) this in my experience slows things down but still works ok.
Low hard disc space in my experience can produce a lot of random errors so that could be the problem.

My DSL company's browser piggybacks off of IE and it works so I'm not about to screw with it. Having had PCs since 1989 before Windows I learned one good thing about computers- If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I'm microsoft too, only because I didn't know you could switch.. But I don't get bothered much either. Occasionally a pop up and rarely a background downland. [huh]

Is constantly being hacked, hence the need for constant updates. So I decided to try Firefox because it is still safe. The widespread use of Internet Explorer has caused too many hackers to invent exploits, browser hijackers, and all sorts of demons to plague PC users.

Safari has a hidden Debug menu that allows it to masquerade as another browser, so those pages that refuse to open in Safari can be tricked into thinking that you are using IE, Netscape, Mozilla etc. You can unlock the Debug menu through the Terminal, or for the non-geek download TinkerTool.

I should have mentioned that I posted about the Safari debug menu in response to a post about that Firefox plug-in...:eusa_doh: There are several Safari users here and there's always the chance that not all of them will know about that hidden feature.
