Hello all, introducing myself as new FL member. Call me by my handle or Mike. I am making the transition from ball caps and buckets to formal hats and have been learning a lot. I’m 7 3/8, 59 usually and long oval. I’m not that big but I take up space and I am east coast city style on a weekday. I am working with a campdraft now and have a question- how can you get crown dents to set? I can shape ok other than that - pic shared. Otherwise, looking forward to chatting with similarly minded folks. IMG_0984.jpeg

Welcome, Mike!

Steam is your friend. Keep it away from the sweatband. It will soften and re-set the felt as you like. Go gently. Have fun!!

I can get some that look pretty good and then I’ll think I’ve held and cooled enough and a little while later it softens mostly out. My wife quilts so I have been “borrowing “ her steamer to work on this guy. I dry shaped a lot to practice and then last week ****** out the steam. How about that brim? I’ve tried to steam that enough to slant in front but this is some seriously stiff felt! I love that this akubra is so resilient

Camp Drafts can be persnickety. If it isn't responding to steam, wet it down with a spray bottle, shape it, and let it dry. You might get better results.
