Looks very good on you! Two tone steerhide? Short review?
Sure thing!

Yes, this is the two-tone steerhide. I like it a good bit because it didn't require much break in but it still shows a decent bit of grain. The color really comes out well in the sunlight and the transitions between the light and dark browns are quite nice to see.

Mobility is good. The jacket is extremely comfortable and all the hardware seems durable and of good quality. The lining is cotton drill and thick enough to be warm but not so thick as to impair mobility or rough enough to catch my sleeves when I put it on or take it off.

All in all, I'm very happy with the Rugged Rider. This is a standard size medium and I am 5 foot 10 inches and 165 lbs

Received my Rugged West jacket today in black steerhide. Fits very nicely and looks good. I wanted a jacket I could layer a thick shirt underneath. Stitching is flawless to my untrained eye. Leilah did a good job.

Love the camel lining with that black steerhide. Looks great on you!

These recent pics make me more excited for mine to finally come in :)

So is that the actual "oil black" or the "blackened brown" or the "seal brown"? All the historic 1.4mm steer options are confusing me quite a lot?

She introduced me to this leather as her black teacore steerhide. The leather I recieved is very black, I would say jet black. The leather is soft and easy to wear straight from the box. It's slightly oily to the touch, but not sticky. It's not squeaky at all. It doesn't smell bad, but like a previous post mentioned, it smells like new furniture leather. I don't mind it all, it's very faint.

My understanding is that she received a batch of seal brown leather which she made jet black afterwards, but kept some of the seal brown. She's made jackets from both.
