Actually, our money has undergone quite a few colour and design changes recently. I like this trend, and hope that it continues to full blown, full color money. Maybe it will end up like Canadian money which has always been one of my favourites?

How is something a ' good deal' for the government when they need to make both the coins -and- produce a constant stream of bills? That pretty much means it costs -more- to make two kinds of the same denomonation of money....not less...

They are microscopically larger...not larger in a way that facilitates instant hand in pocket detection of which is which......

They need to quit sitting on the fence on this one and just make a nice large, substantial dollar coin like the silver dollars of yesterday. Bring back the "Peace" dollar!

Not dumb

That observation from Cookie must have been a joke, it certainly is inaccurate. A twenty (how'd that get there? how is it still there?) in my wallet has a definite pink tinge to it, unless something red ran on it.;) I personally like the huge heads of Jackson and Franklin.

I like money green, it just feels so right. Besides, if our money changes any more than it is now, rappers are going to go crazy.

In defense of the penny, they certainly have their uses.

The main disadvantage I can imagine with same colour notes is that they are harder for the visually impaired to distinguish between.

British notes are obviously different sizes and colours according to value, which also makes it easier to quickly check your change!

Anyway, green is unlucky.

Actually adding all these colors to prevent counterfeits raises the cost of printing the notes.

I like the new ten bill, but had I not recieved one at the bank, I wouldve been hesitant about accepting one. I was totally surprised.
I've got an old 1950s ten in my wallet.

heres a funny ode to the TEN

The new $10 bill ... silenced
Apologies to Simon & Garfunkel ... but Hamilton's new look is a sad song.

Alexander Hamilton's image adorns the new $10 bill

Goodbye sawbuck my old friend ...

They're changing currency again ...

Because fake bills are slowly creeping ...

Into our econ-circulation thing.

And the Secret ... Service ... does complain

They can't contain ..

The mounds of phony money.

.....................

In restless dreams I see his face ...

But poor Alex seems out of place ...

He was the man who made the Treasury

Now he looks like a Hallmark pixie

And the background ... is just ... too darn pink

I think it stinks

I want the old green money.

...................

And in the naked light you'll see ..

This bill's become all shimmery ...

It's like some jester at a royal dance

Or the tissue notes used in Japan and France

And like Jackson, this thing is a mockery ..

Of what bills should be ...

It looks like funny money.

........................

And they did this once before ...

And they say they'll do some more ...

Every year there's a bill changing

More and more it will be confusing

And the day will come when the people just can't tell ...

Oh what the hell.

We won't know what ... is money.

I think what makes the $1 coin truly practical is a companion $2 coin, or at least that's how it seemed to me when I was living in Germany. That, and the 20 and 50 cent coins, which seemed more practical than quarters.

Of course, I really like the Swiss 5 Franc coin, too, but I heard so many people complain that because it felt like change, they became careless about spending them.
