Howdy Loungers, I posting my new acquisition, a custom LW Easy Ryder Cafe Racer jacket in black heavy horsehide. The custom bit is that I replaced the mandarin collar with an A-2 snap down collar. It came out outstanding! This is my second LW jacket, so sizing was a breeze since Stu already had my measurements.
I went with the Talon #10 brass paperclip zipper for the front and brass Talon #6 zippers for pockets and sleeves. The brass color gives this one a real moto look. Just the zipper choices reduced the price considerably compared to the Crowns. I have the Crown on my Appalachian, and while beautiful, they are kinda of a PIA. I’m always being extra careful not bust them, like I could, but still. I also got the hanging chain deleted since I will never use it to hand this beast. I haven’t weighed yet, but it's north of 8 lb. The one thing that stands out is the back panel has some awesome grain!!!
The leather is their heaviest horsehide and right now it is a piece of plywood but it will mold real good once tamed. It fits me perfectly, much better than my Vanson Enfield, which I will be posting for sale here in a few.
My original choice was a Suburban jacket, but that had a few things I didn’t like. For example the lack of gussett in the sleeves, which is not really displayed on their website. It also didn’t have a wind flap or zippered pockets. I asked Stu to alter it, but it was going to cost a lot and it would just have butchered a fine jacket. I saw this one and with a collar replacement, it’s everything I wanted. I wish it had a second chest pocket, but hey, win some loose some.
Now for the pics:
