(Hint: This tune was associated with a singer named after a kind of candy.)

That's a tough one Fletch, but I think I got it (I'm still not sure about the candy bar connection, though! Who was that?).

The song is:

"Put It Down In Writing"

Honestly I'm not too knowledgeable about Swing Era tunes, in fact the only version of this I've heard is the Artie Shaw Orch. / Tony Pastor recording.

Lizziemaine, I think you and I both have an affinity for those cheeky Depression Era tunes! When I read your post, the first thing that came to mind was the Ramona / Ken Darby recording with Paul Whiteman's Orch.

George "Bon Bon" Tunnell -- there's another one for the forgotten singers thread. Have you heard his early stuff with Mills Brother-ish group "The Three Keys"? They made a great "Nagasaki".

She must have taught at Huntington Beach High School! A wonderful historic building, built in 1926. I always wanted to go to that school, but unfortunately I lived on the other side of town.

They sure did, altho their resemblance to the Mills Bros. was made too much of at the time. The Keys were a somewhat tighter, swingier group, but that, as well as the bad timing, limited their appeal.
