A little bit of trivia for the Canadians on this forum.

Ford of Canada had a rebadged Falcon called the Frontenac.
Falcons were sold at Ford dealerships. Frontenacs were sold
at Mercury dealerships.

GM-Canada had a rebadged Chevy II called the Acadian.
Chevy II's were sold at Chevrolet dealerships. Acadians
were sold at Pontiac dealerships.

Valiants were badged as "Valiant by Chrysler" and
sold at Plymouth, Dodge and Chrysler dealerships.

You still see Pontiac Acadians around, rusting and on their last legs usually. My neighbour has one to this day parked in his driveway, essentially a lawn ornament. It was a gift to him from his mother, now long gone. Literally a memento to her.

I never knew that was a Canada-only name.

I wish I could say it was all original but being they only made 90 of these between 1955-1957,and Porsche kept 12 for racing, that would be really hard Being a die hard James Dean fan I just HAD to have one. I had it custom built at a company that specializes in Spydeys As you can probably guess this is one SPOILED car lol. I go to a lot of car shows and have a lot of fun talking about it with the people that have never seen one.

Love the car, Miss Vixen! Were I ever to run a car, I think I'd go along the same lines as yourself for a daily driver: something with old-school looks, with something a bit more recent under the skin, making it easier to maintain. As it is, an auto is an unnecessary evil living in central London, and I save a fortune in not owning one.

That would definately help your mileage, so would tuning your carburetor to run lean and at a lower RPM. I played with my carb on my 60 Chevy and went from 6mpg to 19mpg.

Jinkies, I think that's one of the big differences between the UK and the US: over here, something at 19mpg would be considered a serious gas guzzler..... 6mpg..... that's basically fuel consumption measured in feet, right?

I’ve had her for three or so weeks now, but she’s still “new.” I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get pictures, I had misplaced my digital camera.

She’s a 1961 Ford Falcon Futura. The Futura was the “sporty” Falcon introduced in 1961 as a response to the Corvair Monza, it was a deluxe two-door sedan with special trim and a vinyl, bucket seat interior and console.

Mine is Cambridge Blue with a blue interior. Somebody replaced the old 144 cubic-inch six cylinder with a 170 cubic-inch version from a 1968 Falcon. She has a column-shift 3-speed with an unsynchronized first gear.

In these pictures she’s wearing the funky 1970s-style “turbine” wheels that the seller had put on her. Just this past weekend I completed my set of 14-inch steel wheels that will take the stock hubcap, and I intend to get them cleaned up, painted, and mounted with whitewall tires ASAP.

This is my new daily driver, BTW, though I car pool, so it’s more like “weekly driver.”

Nice Falcon. Looks to be in outstanding shape. My brother has a '65 Falcon that he has owned since he was in high school 20 years ago, it was his first car and he still has it. He shows it at the local car shows. I had a '66 Fairlane 500 convertible a few years back that I restored and sold after having it 15 years. Was a nice car, kind of regret selling it. Now I have a '39 Dodge that I am loving and a 1949 Case Model SC Wide Front row crop tractor!

HAHAHA the car came with all the custom reproduction stickers that James Dean had on his car, but because I go to car shows where there are people under the age of 18, I do not want to offend anyone but here is the front of my car cover LOLOL the car is very spoiled and we just got air conditioning in the garage so the car is comfy lol

Very nice Falcon and Spyder. I have been driving my 67 Chrylser Newport for a little over 3 years now. Still not the prettiest, but I do get a lot of thumbs up from the old timers!

Nice New Yorker. The space-age full-size Chrysler products seem to be way underappreciated, which makes them good buys (especially when compared with the stupid money that the same-era muscle cars bring) but means that most of them aren’t well taken care of - especially the big-block cars that often lose their engines and transmissions to hot rodders.

I’ll confess that I’ve got a 440/Torqueflite combo sitting in my dad’s garage, but it’s out of a ‘70s motorhome that was going to be junked anyway. I couldn’t mess up one of those cool MoPar behemoths. If somebody gave me a ‘68 Imperial, I’d be a happy camper - even one without an engine, as I’ve always thought a modern Cummins diesel would be a neat swap into one.

Yep, a slight lowering, a quiet but burbly exhaust, and some Esquivel! and Sinatra on the radio, and you’d have one nice cruise with any of those babies.

I do love the car! I bought it almost 4 years ago and it has pretty much been my daily driver since then. Of course I had to replace several decades worth of neglect, and I keep having to. At some point, I want to slightly lower it, put some flowmasters or glasspacks on it, and fix it up. When I can afford it, I am thinking of going with a satin black paintjob, and making it look very sleek and sinister! (I wish it was the 440 but it is "only" a 383!)

What a lovely engine that 383 was, had a polara , think that i am losing it and cant spell this late at night, i do remember the push button transmission that the d popped out a eighty miles an hour and holding the d button in. The left and right handed lug nuts and the wide dash with long needles for speedometer. I also was riding in new yorker with 440 just after it was painted and when doing 120 the trim flew off the side of the car. Try explaining to grandma how you lost the side trim of her car. Good old days and classic cars, i still have my studebaker but the big chryslers always have a spot in my heart. 59Larkfftopic:

I'm sure any big block has serious potential to put a smile on one's face.

Sadly, the only big-block vehicles I've ridden in have been Ford trucks. My dad has a 1969 Chevelle 396 sitting in the garage that we almost put in my Camaro, but I decided I'd rather keep the small block so as not to compromise the handling.

I think a lot about this comment, and have decided that while it may be true of the way a lot of Falcons are hot rodded, mine is more of a "thinking man's Thunderbird".
