After doubting going for a vintage manual watch, I thought it would be better to go for a vintage looking modern quartz watch to test the water. As its cheap and reliable

I went with the lip T18, it's a reissue of the watch gifted to Churchill after the Second World War by the French government.

I really love the art deco style and that it is on the smaller side (as per the 30's/40's proportions), as I have a very small wrist. I for some reason loathe the watches that look like you strapped a wall clock to your wrist.

Overall really happy with it!

Beautiful watch. I've looked and looked from time to time and though about getting a vintage watch as well but have not pulled the trigger also. They require servicing every few years so best to look for one that is easy to service. From my reading, Omega is a good brand to look for. Excellent caliber, finish and one of the easier ones to service.
