Aside from Don Redman, Louis Armstrong and Fletcher Henderson, nobody - nobody was more central to the creation of swing than Fats Waller.

You guys have reawakened in me, my love of Fats Waller's music. It's so funny and lively and cheerful.

A favourite of mine (I don't know if you can find it on Youtube) is one called "Spring Cleaning".

The lyrics go something like:

"Dust off the leaves,
Make 'em green again,
Shake off the trees,
Change the scene again,
Spring cleanin',
Gettin' ready for love!"

Fats is not only lively and fun-loving, he's virtuosic and mercurial in his depth.

Anybody who has an appreciation for jazz and who loves swing loves either Fats Waller or some other artist or style that he helped create. He really was a mentor and behind-the-scenes presence who influenced many performers, singers and instrumentalists. Duke Ellington and Count Basie were two recipients of his wisdom and insight into the craft of making music. In some of Wallers's recordings it is possible to hear a whole orchestra in it's parts. He was a genius- in an age where that word was thrown around and at many people. He was a true genius, though. Underneath the showy exterior and the "One never knows, does one?..." catch phrases.

Just out of curiosity does anyone in Fedora likes this? no? yes? may be? a little acknowledgement? anything?[huh]

It is very beautiful and filled with passion yet the steady tempo suggests an attempt to control that passion.

To be concise I like it.:p

"Sizzle Of the Sausage" recorded by Tommy Handley, Regal G1958 circa 1928 may very well fit within your description. I could not find it, however. :(

But here are couple by Mr. Handley.:p

You must have read my mind because I was thinking of posting Bert Firman's recording of Connie in the Cornfield. lol

;)lollol

But the question remains does Bert Firman have the "Sizzle Of the Sausage" in his repertoire?:p

In any event after this statement, "Long live the sausage factory", I have accepted myself as relegated to being one of these guys...:p
