Maybe Mr. Coburn preferred the fake beer to the fake whiskey?^^^I liked James Coburn & like his hat here. But I always wondered why he was drinking suds with a bottle of whiskey next to him?

LOL! I recall an out-take where the actors were all around a table or something and as the scene ended, one actor was supposed to take a shot of whisky or the like.... LOL, but instead of juice or colored water someone substituted the real thing! The actor about choked!Maybe Mr. Coburn preferred the fake beer to the fake whiskey?
The Props Manager was probably a teetotaler & didn't know any difference.Maybe Mr. Coburn preferred the fake beer to the fake whiskey?
Glad I'm not the only one who was quite taken with it. I've also been thinking of getting one custom made. Out of curiosity, how would you describe the hat? Dimensions? Do you also see a slight side taper? It's a beaut, to be sure. MrsFed and I went to see the movie together. I'm usually the one telling her to be quiet with her remarks during movies, but before I even knew what I happened - as soon as he came on the screen with that blue beauty - I -had blurted out, "WOW, LOOK AT THAT HAT!!!!!" LOL...
I love everything about the hat. Plans to get a custom made are on hold pending funds....
I call FAKE outtake! He would have smelled real whiskey before he ever lifted the glass off the table....and as the scene ended, one actor was supposed to take a shot of whisky or the like.... LOL, but instead of juice or colored water someone substituted the real thing! The actor about choked!

I'm thinking 5-3/4" open crown, maybe 2-3/8" or 2-1/2" brim (looks stingy to me, but I don't like super stingy brim hats for me), without taper. I think any taper seen is just the angle of the shot. A double box side bow, but I'd go with a shark's gill bow (just personal preference). And I might go with either a center crease or rough diamond crease as opposed to the teardrop style of the movie hat.Glad I'm not the only one who was quite taken with it. You'd have to see it. Just swooped up the glass, shot it back, and started coughing....lol. Anyway, looked real to me. At least it was well acted!I call FAKE outtake! He would have smelled real whiskey before he ever lifted the glass off the table.
Needed a a little uplifting inspiration today so Seabiscuit it is! Ton of great hats!Seabiscuit
