Aromaleigh and Meow Cosmetics (both offer a shade light enough for me. I've tried Bare Minerals, but it is too dark).

I know...I'm very very late to this thread...still catching up. I've been using Bare Minerals for about 6 months, and I love it. Jitterbug, not sure when you last checked, but they've actually come out with a lighter shade semi-recently... I got the idea it was shortly before I bought mine. The next shade up was way too dark for me as well. Bare Minerals isn't cheap though... I need to get more, so I think I'll check out the brands you mentioned.

I do recall seing a lighter shade recently, but I wasn't sure if it would work for me. I may check it out once I run out of my current foundation; I do love to try out new makeup.

Yes. I do have a nearly full jar of a very light, neutral shade that I'd be willing to send to someone to try out. The color started to oxidize on me (my skin delights in turning nearly all foundations orangey), so although it matches well initially, it darkens throughout the day.

I was at Walgreens a few days ago and saw the Milani mineral pressed powder. It was $7.99 plus tax, but I needed a pressed powder and picked it up. I really like it, the color was a little dark, but blended well even with the horrible applicator that comes with the powder. It didn't break me out and it goes on really smoothly. Ya'll might want to check it out for a drugstore brand mineral makeup.

I was at Walgreens a few days ago and saw the Milani mineral pressed powder. It was $7.99 plus tax, but I needed a pressed powder and picked it up. I really like it, the color was a little dark, but blended well even with the horrible applicator that comes with the powder. It didn't break me out and it goes on really smoothly. Ya'll might want to check it out for a drugstore brand mineral makeup.

Has anyone tried the Physicians Formula brand? its available at most drugstores as well. I bought a green tint moisturizer to even out my skin tone (I have roseacea) and it works quite well.

I tried the PF brand out a long time ago, right after it came out and wasn't impressed. It was cakey and not smooth at all, but that was the pressed mineral makeup and it was awhile ago, they could have changed somthing and I haven't tried the loose MMU to see if its any good.

I've been using the PF mineral translucent loose powder for about three weeks, and I LOVE it. Insanely. I'd resorted to it after using Coty translucent--and unscented-- for a week broke my forehead out in millions of clogged pores. With the help of some good masks & time, I'm fixing it-- must've been a bad reaction to the talc. I really wanted a good powder that covers slightly, while letting my skin show through, evening tone. I'd tried the Bare Minerals, but found it too heavy, too "foundation" like, and on a whim bought the PF version. It's very light, smooth, and the translucent tone isn't ashy, but matches your skintone. It's really perfection for me, natural-looking and my skin hasn't broken out yet!

Another PF Mineral Wear convert here. I was quite pleased with the L'oreal Bare Naturale for a few months, but then the pigments in it started to go kinda orangey on me--thus it was time for an upgrade to the talc-free zone. I have the loose and the pressed versions and they both work well, though it took me a while to get the application down. I seem to get the best coverage using a flat round sponge with the pressed version. They've recently come out with mineral concealer, blush, and eyeshadow-quads which are all quite nice--I just with the color selection had a little more pizzazz.

I am looking at more of the physicians formula make ups and see the moisturizer (for extra dry skin-which is mine compounded by roseacea) The Conceal RX concealer and gentle refreshing toner. I use the red mimimizer mousturizer which is green tinted and helps alot. My concern is that the more makeup I add the flakier/ more obvious it looks. Has anyone used their new wrinkle concealer? I checked their website, and they seem to be expanding a lot.

Another product they have is a brow wax stick in black & brown and Retro Glow mascara that supposedly makes youre eyelashes really thick like falsies. I am thinking about trying those as well.

I'll need to do more digging for you, but there's a product line out there that deals specificly with this sort of skin issue...eucerine (now, I'm pretty sure I"m spelling this wrong, but if you go to your local Walgreens, you'll probably know what I'm talking about! ) it's a little on the spendy side but sure worth not going through the hassle of getting a prescription. I haven't tried it myself, but, have heard really great things about it.
To cover; what I've found to work best is to use a concealer with a yellow base. Ben Nye makes one that is the absolute best I've found and it's called Mellow yellow-a little bit of this stuff goes a long way! and since I was just at Walgreens (and just happened to pick up some PF mineral make-up-which I found extemely great that this has come up in conversation in here!) anyways, I noticed that PF has a yellow-based concealer that comes in a cube-wether it's any good or not, I don't know, but, it at least looks like it would work great for covering up the redness.

I also bought the retroglow mascara- very nice, but really thick, and the mineral powder, all with great results. I use the Eucerin cream on & off, its great stuff & works wonders on my daughters eczema.

I use Jane Iredale pressed powder, and I am CRAZY about it! The coverage is amazing, and my skin loves it. It has no talc or parabens, and it contains natural SPF 20 sunscreen (titanium dioxide).

I also love the packaging...slightly vintage-inspired. Not as cute as Besame, but very close, with the velvet pouch and everything. The only thing I don't like so much is the applicator poof.

Mineral make up rocks. But some older women might not like it as the powder settles in the fine lines and the powder dries the skin accentuating the wrinkles. Older women need moist foundation, it holds water which helps plump the lines and wrinkles.Try revlon botafirm for dry mature skin, moist and good coverage. But for me, I have a few fine lines. I started with bare escentuals and was hooked. Awesome coverage, lasts all day, when you sweat it stays put , it doesnt get all wet. You can swim and it stays on, only soap is getting it off. But then I discovered Philosophys mineral make up which i love more. It has better coverage and its not messy but all the same benefits as bare escentuals. With escentual you have to grab your brush, lift some powder, swirl in the cap, tap and apply. With philosophy, the powder is in the bottle with a sponge on the end. So all you do is turn the container upside down tap it a little and start spreading the powder on your face. Their is a mirror on the top so you can see what your doing without an additional mirror. And there is no powder flying all over the vanity and your clothes. And philosophys you can carry in your purse. Its 3 in one, the powder, applicator and mirror in one. But $35, well worth every penny

I was not pleased with the Physician's Formula mineral products. I bought them as an inexpensive alternative, and I ended up giving them away after only a couple of uses. For one, all of the powders were much too dark and orangey for my complexion. Even the translucent pressed mineral powder was pretty dark! Also, I found the coverage to be much heavier than the more expensive mineral products such as Bare Escentuals. If you need more coverage it might work well, but one of the things I like about mineral makeup is the feel of "no makeup" and the fresh, natural look. It was heavy and seemed cakey after a while. I just wasn't happy with the PF products at all.
