Sometimes this site can be a little glitchy but I’ve never felt that it was directed at me. I rarely give advice but here goes. Just chill out, browse through the archives, check out some pics and see what people are posting. This isn’t a debate club, it’s a place to learn and hang with people that share your interests. Do a post and say what you like about a certain jacket…or what didn’t quite work for you. Show some measurements that might help someone else with sizing questions. If you’ve got a favorite jacket that you know a few things about, add something to the threads on that brand. Chime in here and there. There’s no need to make an easy thing hard.

Thank you for your advice. I did switch devices, but I will keep trying. And a new thread is a good idea. I will do that with photos this evening, for those genuinely interested. The website is buggy. Some members have difficulty posting; nothing specific to you. Try a phone if you are posting from a laptop, or a laptop if you are posting from a phone.

Also - it is well within rules of this forum to start a new thread for a jacket review. It would be "your" thread, with a clean slate, unencumbered by your past experiences in this thread. I am sure all comments in such a new review thread would be based on merits and not personal.

See this is what I was trying to say. Maybe I was a little mean in coming at you; but even after all this look at the group still encouraging you to post, giving advice and welcoming you. You might get some crap from a user or two. You might feel insecure about a choice. But I guarantee you we’ve all been there. Bought something that doesn’t work, doesn’t fit, was a weird choice. We’ve all had a comment from someone being an elitist. But the overwhelming majority are so welcoming. So helpful. We genuinely want to see everything. Learn everything we can. We want to help new people into the hobby. We want to share what we’ve learned.

So even now we are all still here. I really hope you can figure out how to post pics. Tell us all about it. The good, the bad, what works, what doesn’t. In the future tell us a budget you’re working with, we can help you find something. New in that tier of money, used, finds and deals here is a great place. Check the classifieds here stuff comes up. I hope you stick around. Seriously. It’s an amazing forum with some great people and so much to learn and see!

I get where you’re coming from, and I appreciate the gesture. That said, I’d point out that the issues I’ve raised haven’t been about taking things too seriously—they’ve been about the dynamics of the conversation itself. Still, I’ve got no interest in making this harder than it needs to be. I came here to share perspectives, not to argue endlessly.

I’ll post some photos and thoughts on the jacket. I like the suggestion to share them in the “What Are You Wearing Today?” thread—that seems like the right place for anyone genuinely interested in seeing how it looks and fits in the real world.

My concern has always been that I didn’t want to post in a forum that felt committed to a foregone conclusion. If you go back to my original post, you’ll see that my rationale on that has been consistent from the start.

That said, I’m happy to move forward and chalk all the back and forth up to an initiation ritual.
