Making a Shearling Jacket out of a pair of Shearling Pants?

Hey folks. I have a pair of shearling high altitude pants from WW2. They are in fairly rough shape but I've managed to get all but one of the zippers working, removed all mold and grime frome the skin and wool side, and I even managed to almost eliminate the initially horrendous smell,( they smelt like a cat peed on an old man's mouldy sweater):)
As they are they have little resale value and I don't have room in my collection for such a large piece that I'll never wear. I had initially thought about making a few removable collars for my other jackets; but has anyone heard of these pants being tailored into a jacket? The skin side of this shearling is so much more robust then the paper thin skin of other shearling that I've owned. I think there's enough material there but it would be patch work for sure. I've sent pics and measurements to my "leather girls" that have done work for me before and am waiting for their response but has anyone here heard of this being done? Here's some ridiculous fit pics for your entertainment:)

I'm convinced one of the reasons so few pairs of the trousers survived intact this long is because they were so often cut up to patch jackets....

I'd be surprised, tbh, if there was enough material in these to make a jacket intended to be worn with the same size pants as these. Even if one of the very patchwork, late war examples. Either way, if these are in decent shape as they seem to be, I think it would be a shame to hack them up. Better to sell them on to a collector and put the cash towards a new jacket imo.
