Oooooh, I’m jealous. I need to get back on his list.

Well, I came up again in the queue for round two, to get a sibling for the Granite, and Michael kindly built a Charcoal companion.
I was torn between pecan and charcoal, and had a helluva time deciding. It was the girlfriend who pushed me to go charcoal. She's the one that has to look at me in the silly things, and she said all my older hats (akubra fedoras, most are regency fawn colour) look similar. Get something different.
So the charcoal it became.
Michael showcased me his own personal hat as a reference, with his vintage Slate ribbon, so I was kinda strong-armed into getting a similar hat done.
I went with a 5 1/2 crown and 2 1/5 brim, bound with narrow charcoal and vintage slate.
Michael's finished work is fantastic. I can hardly wait. So excited to dig in to that crown and see what it wants to become.
Good afternoon folks.
(So I may have to re-introduce myself here, as its been a few moons since I last ventured into this here saloon... normally I'm lurking on the outside porch, watching the goings on thru the window as I pass by the lounge)
I took a plunge back in the spring, and after all the reading and digesting of this thread, had my name put on to Gannon's roster.
Well, I was fortunate to have my hat made and I received it in June. I have to say, the superlative quality of Michael's hats is really top shelf stuff. The attention to detail, the stitching, the soft shapable crown, its all a cut above the other modern hats I have. So pleased was I that I asked to be put back in the queue for a sibling. (I wish I had got in on them before the price increase ;-)
So, for the initial hat, I opted for a very casual easy wearing open crown in granite with charcoal ribbon for the crown and brim. The hat was blocked to 5 1/2, with 62mm brim. Michael used a block #81, a personal favourite shape of his he said to me, as its a very old style, slightly less straight walled as the #52 but similar. The hat pretty much spent the entire summer on my head.
When we were first in Utah we picked up postcards showing dinosaur footprints embedded in the rock. Sent them to our 3 & 5 year old nephews......when they received them they worried about us for days afterwards....concerned about our safety touring in dinosaur country.Well this was exciting to wake up to this morning.
I’ve posted, maybe reposted, my inspiration for what I (and Michael) have been calling an “outdoorsy fedora”. And yes, I’m an unapologetic Jurassic Park fan. In this image though, I think there are two different hats. The one worn in Jurassic Park III and the one that will be featured in the latest Jurassic World.
Off topic bragging: my 3 year old can name and pronounce more dinosaur species than most adults.

So glad to see this thread still alive
Michael is a superb hat maker who continues to get better every day.
I still wear all of my Gannon hats and occasionally get an urge to buy another.
I had no idea ... that's great to hearI'd say right now he's the most popular custom hatter on the Lounge.
THough @belfastboy may be coming up on the outside stretch.
But at this point as a comparison....I could be sweeping his shop floor.I'd say right now he's the most popular custom hatter on the Lounge.

Photo credit goes to Mister Gannon. Honestly I’ll probably never take a picture of it this good anyway.
Can’t wait to get my hands on it.
Well, I finally jumped in again and am in Michael's queue. It will be my second Gannon with about a 5 year gap. Now I have to come up with what I want.
Beautiful Gannon. Michael will start mine in a couple of weeks now. I can't waitPhoto credit goes to Mister Gannon. Honestly I’ll probably never take a picture of it this good anyway.
