Well if everything goes well, I’ll probably get that Moss Green one I was thinking about.

We’re moving into a new house the beginning of December. So once we’re settled, I’ll have more room for hats.

I was able to snap these photos before my 3 year old threw up on the floor and interrupted my photo session. I’m sure it’s unrelated.

Natural is a great color and it looks great on you, David. I have more customs in that color than any other two combined.

I really think there’s something to giving a hatter a rough idea of what you want and then standing back and letting him/her make many of the decisions.

A real beauty. That may be the one to put me back in the Ganno queue, David. I want to try a Natural with a green ribbon to mimic a 3X I picked up from Brent @deadlyhandsome last year.

I’ve had similar conversations with my barber. He’s been cutting hair longer than I’ve been alive. Who am I to tell him his trade?

A couple of decisions were Michael’s and I’m happier for it.

I really like that fedora. The natural felt really works with the jacket you are wearing in the pic. How is it wearing? I have a natural with a similar sweat band (gill ribbon treatment). I really like the felt. My hard wear has the gill ribbon showing some marks and the sweat is worn. The totally comfy sweat soaks up perspiration and a couple times I have perspired during escapades and soaked the leather. I do not order that style of leather in Gannon hats for my uses.

Yep, you were the early adopter, first in and the first to introduce Michael to us Loungers. I asked him to copy your whisky with copper ribbon.....still a favourite.

Yeah, me too. I really enjoy watching the creative expression coming from these artists. My next Gannon is going to be a Nutria, I’m going to just let him do his thing.

This Natural Gannon was only recently freed from a storage unit and sent to me. It hasn’t gotten much wear, but it sure is versatile.

I just picked this hat up. It deserves more effort for its debut, but I’m off to work and I couldn’t wait.

Cobalt blue 100% nutria felt (one of the new 160 gram felts from Sunrise). Open crown is just under 6 1/2 inches! The bound brim is a full three inches wide and the binding and crown ribbon/bow are in the color “blue metal.” The crown is super thin and very soft. Farther down the crown the felt thin lens and forms up. The brim is quite firm and substantial. The hand is very nice on the crown and brim, but there underlying firmness of the felt varies a great deal between the two. I like it a lot, and it encourages one to doff and don it by the brim rather than the crown. Like my other Nutrias from Gannon, the top of the crown is so thin and soft that you can blow a crease into it, but the felt has a lot of spring back and will take steam to get the shape right. This is an area where Gannon’s beaver hats are better than the nutria.

I think this hat wants to be brim up and I’m fine with that. I’m completely happy with how the hat turned out. It’s just quickly dry creased right now and it will take some time and effort to shape it how I want, but it’s a jewel and the color is even nicer than I hoped. Maybe even approaching Eric’s @Short Balding Guy cadet blue?

I too was about to say open, but it would be interesting to see how Michael creases it and you can alway take it back to open and re-crease the hat. I just spoke to Michael and i will go for an open crown with thin felt, so i can crease it without using steam.

Brim up looks good, and beautiful ribbon choice and work. I have one like this order I'm thinking about having Michael put in a diamond crease, just to see what he does.

Oooh, an easy question for a change. Open crown for me almost every time. I'm far from being an expert at creasing hats, but I really enjoy the process and discovering what shape the hat wants. Sometimes we disagree so I let the hat win...for a while, then I re-visit the crease at a later date; sometimes that works out, sometimes it doesn't and the hat wins again. Either way, once I set the crease I'm not one to fuss with it a lot. I prefer to leave it alone and watch the hat take on it's own character. That's part of the fun!

On the other hand, if I'm ever wealthy enough to have Mr. Gannon make a hat for me I'd probably ask him to crease it because, why not?

Be careful you don't cut yourself, 'cause that hat is SHARP Brent! Normally with a brim that wide I'd have to snap the front down, but I agree with your choice to wear it brim up 100%. It really looks good on you, and you wear it well my friend!
