This hat is a Wow! Love the bow work.

Outstanding Jim! Congrats!

That is really sharp!!!
Love a tall crown!!!

I don’t know what I like the most: the wide binding, the fantastic bow work, or the soft tones with the large proportions! So much to like there. Congratulations to you and Michael!

Well done, that's a beautiful hat.

Thanks, all. All props to Mr. Gannon for bringing what was in my head to fruition.

It's All Over Now, Powder Blue

I've been expecting this one for a couple of weeks, but there was a short delay because Michael and I got crossways on the specs. After that miscommunication was ironed out, it shipped last Friday. I received it yesterday, and whoa, Nellie, this is another impressive piece of work. Excellent, soft finish, very thin felt, and shapes like a dream. I haven't even hit it with steam yet, and so far, it does whatever I want.

This is my fifth Gannon, and the first since, I think, 2016. He did a great job of making what was in my head.

Specs:

Powder Blue beaver
~6 inch OC, 2 3/4" brim
Crystal Ribbon at 16 ligne, with matching brim binding at 9 ligne.
The bow/keep was lifted from a European hat Steve (@mayserwegener) posted in the bows thread several months ago. Michael nailed it.
I went for a Burgundy sweatband, and yes, that's my username (actually, user nickname) on the sweatband.

Dang! That hat is sharp! The powder blue and trimmings combine to make one heck of a sharp hat. The bow/keep is a terrific ribbon treatment and stands out in the crystal framed by powder blue.

Congrats on the wow fedora. I can not wait to see pics of your hat adventures in powder blue.

Thanks, gents. By the reactions, I'd say Michael really knocked this one out of the park.

My feelings, as well.

Maybe @Chamuco will make an appearance with his powder blue Gannon. We haven’t seen him around lately.

Brent; I went back and visited Chamuco, ofcoursemyhorse andsuitedcboy's powder blue hats this morning. I am getting a hankering for a powder blue hat. The hats shown are dynamite.

Absolute perfection!
That is the hat I dreamt of when I ordered my first Gannon, but at the time he could not get the felt. Your choice of ribbons and stylistic elements!!!
Outstanding!

Michael was right: this sage hat is not any stiffer than the natural he made me a couple months go. 100% nutria with a 3 1/2” bound brim and a 6 3/8” open crown. The crown ribbon is 9 ligne club grey and binding is 4 ligne blue grey. The felt is a chameleon and varies from gray, to blue-gray, to a very pale green (sage).

The crown is very thin and dense. I can’t quite blow a crease into it, but it’s close. The brim is thicker and firmer and has a medium to medium-light flange. The crease will evolve over the coming days, but I already love this hat!

This is absolutely wonderful felt! As soon as I’m done here I’m off to the Sunrise site to look at more 220g options.

Looks great Brent, congrats! Do you know if Michael brings in sunrise felts directly? I would get nailed with all kind of extra shipping costs if I went that direction.

I’ve sent Michael all the Sunrise felts he’s used making hats for me; however, he will source them himself if you want. On his website he specs out nutria hats and his listed pricing is if he buys the felt so you can subtract $150 (ish) if you supply the felt.
