Eric, as always your hats are awesome. What are the specifications of your Wanderer inspired Gannon?I like the navy mid-sized ribbon treatment you chose. It really grabs my eye and says look at me.
I selected a mid-ribbon charcoal ribbon for my Gannon "Wanderer" using the steel beaver felt. I took inspiration from the vintage Stetson Wanderer when choosing dimensions, ribbon and edge treatment.
Cheers, Eric -
That's just killer, Brent, congrats.
I was going to wait until the weekend to crease it, but I couldn’t wait. It’s hard to believe that this is western weight felt! A quick down and dirty simple crease:

There’s a lot of crown to work with and it’s so soft it’s easy to crease it deep.
Michael has a real gift! I’ve seen custom hats costing three times as much that don’t compare. I love my Gannons!
Another great Gannon and the color should make it one to wear on a regular basis.
Fantastic, Brent! Can't wait to see your others...I was going to wait until the weekend to crease it, but I couldn’t wait. It’s hard to believe that this is western weight felt! A quick down and dirty simple crease:

Brent, can you check the inside of the crown and let us know if Michael also pouncing the other side? I am just curious if he is attacking the shellac core from both directions in order to thin it out. Thanks!Michael was right: this sage hat is not any stiffer than the natural he made me a couple months go. 100% nutria with a 3 1/2” bound brim and a 6 3/8” open crown. The crown ribbon is 9 ligne club grey and binding is 4 ligne blue grey. The felt is a chameleon and varies from gray, to blue-gray, to a very pale green (sage).
The crown is very thin and dense. I can’t quite blow a crease into it, but it’s close. The brim is thicker and firmer and has a medium to medium-light flange. The crease will evolve over the coming days, but I already love this hat!

This is absolutely wonderful felt! As soon as I’m done here I’m off to the Sunrise site to look at more 220g options.

Thank you for checking. Obviously, it is more work for Michael as he has to block the crown twice in order to pounce both sides but the results speak for themselves. It also gives the opportunity to get a feel for where the core is, if you accidentally expose it on one side you have another chance to pounce up to but not through it.

My next hat will be done this way!
Again, thanks for checking.
2 2/8 ... versus 2 1/4

I have the swatch samples and the sage is a mid green but with a fair bit of grey in it. Very much like the wild sage plant. It looks like it lightened considerably with the pouncing. Liking it more than the Willow from WinchesterHey Brent, That "sage" hat looks really gray on my monitor. Just to compare, what color is the ribbon? From my limited experience with the color sage, it's a bit green right? Looked it up on Wikipedia, yep it's a green. I'd have figured that a gray ribbon wouldn't go well with a sage hat body, but I'm divorced, so I'm experienced at being wrong.
