Here's the thread where you can tell us about your books and articles -- hardcover or paperback, magazine or newspaper, if you've published, tell us about it in this thread. Links to reviews of your works are also welcome here.

Please keep posts concise and informative -- links to Amazon or publishers' pages are acceptable, but let's not over-emphasize sales pitches.

(Oh, and my book is here.)

I thought it would never come to pass myself, but The Fine Art of Mixing Girls, my highball comedy of manners set in the New York of 1953, is finally out. Handsome hardcover version currently available through http://grandprixpress.com but will be available soon through Amazon, and if your local bookseller doesn't stock it, ask them to order it. You can read about it, including an excerpt, at http://jacknewcastle.com

Fantastic news, Jack! Thanks for the heads-up; I've been waiting for this. It sounds good, and I will definitely be getting a copy.

Miss Lizzie, that must have been a massive undertaking, and I see you have rave reviews. Why Amos and Andy?
Tux Toledo what a great website! I bookmarked it.
and Senator, I must say, what a great looking book. I'll have to read them all come pay day. Also, Senator, what is the lowdown on Grand Prix Press? Are they still printing? Will they be taking submissions, it looks like a great little operation.

Finally, this is my little contribution. A hard-boiled detective (short) story...

Thank you again, Chasseur!

As to Grand Prix Press:

Of course, I would love for it to become the press for the vintage scene, but the only way to do that is by proving to the distributor that there's a market for what we do. I hate to say it, but I sent review material to over 150 media outlets (newspapers, magazines, radio), and the response was next to nil. Hell, the book is about mixology, cocktail culture, and is a COMEDY, and Modern Drunkard didn't even bother to reply, so I'd say it's a good indication of apathy in the media. And okay, so I'm the first to admit that Mixing Girls is no War and Peace - and it might not even be as funny as War and Peace (how many times does Bolkonsky die?) - but it is just about everything The Fedora Lounge is about, and the people I've known here for years couldn't be bothered to buy a copy, so I have to think, why should anyone else be interested. Everyone here complains "we're ignored by the mainstream" and then when they're given what they want, they don't want it. Am I griping as an author? No, I'm only griping as a publisher and "atavist" (but let's not open that again, Lizzie).

Regards,

Jack

I've been self-published in the past and I hope to be self-published again in the very near future (currently putting together my next work).

I also hope to be published in the next edition of a local newsletter. When it comes out, and if I'm in there, I'll post a link here.

Military history is my thing - but always focussing on subjects that have often been ignored. Here are links to my books:

1) To the Victor the Spoils (a social history of the British Army in WW2 - that includes a chapter on fashion)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Victor-Spoi...=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322091031&sr=1-4

2) Hitler's British Slaves (the true story of British prisoners of war in German labour camps)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hitlers-Bri...=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322091031&sr=1-5

3) Dunkirk - The Men They Left Behind (the story of the 40,000 British soldiers trapped in France in 1940)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dunkirk-Men...=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322091031&sr=1-1

4) T Force (the story of the Britsh Army unit which went in search of the Nazi's secret weapons and scientists)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/T-Force-For...=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1322091031&sr=1-3

And next year 'Blitz Kids' will be coming - the story of British children and teenagers in WW2. It includes a rather fun chapter about teenage merchant sailors in New York in wartime, with their tales of buying clothes. One sixteen year old from an English mining village tells the story of heading home to the UK with a blue 'beach suit', wide-brimmed panama hat and correspondent brogues. He hoped these would wow the girls in his home village. unfortunately his ship was sunk on the way home and he lost it all!
