Hi guys,

What do you think about the fit and look of this black leather coat?
US made. Cowhide. New.
Asking price $3k.

A worthwhile purchase ?

I like it. But I don‘t want to look like a Germany's WWII-era leadership either.
Opinions welcome.

Rule of thumb: don't spend $3k if you're afraid you might look like the SS or someone from the Matrix. Doubly so if people mistake you more for the former.

I suppose if I really wanted to I could over time pull together $3K to spend on something, but I can't imagine the circumstances in which I would feel comfortable spending that amount of money on a leather - even if I'd come into the nine-figure lottery win of my dreams and money was no longer an object.

As to a black leather trenchcoat... I don't currently have one. I did at a time. The very rare N@zi comment came from older people, and was generally in the form of a reference to Herr Flick of the Gestapo, a character in a 1980s BBC sitcom. Anyone else it was the Matrix. I doubt the Matrix is a thing now; the poor sequels seem to have killed it off and I don't hear about it any more the way I'd expect to if it was still in the public conscience. I regularly wear a brown fedora and in about twenty years I can only remember one Indiana Jones comment. Other people on the street notice what we wear far less than you'd think. If and when they do, well - it's up to you whether you care or not. As a rule, I don't.

The black leather trenchcoat I had (I think I still have it somewhere, but it'll be far too small now) was the best thing I ever had for rainwear.

It has enough design festures to distinct it from a Germany's WWII-era leadership coat, however it will still look like a Germany's WWII-era leadership coat to the unschooled eye. Either way, 3000 USD is too much and the style very hard to pull off. Get a hiplength barnstormer style coat if you fancy a double-row coat.
