Kangaroo jacket, Is it worth it?

That rings a bell, mate. I'm pretty sure she did. I distinctly remember an episode in which she played a piano! Even as a little kid in the 1970s I knew that was stretching things a LOT!

No. It's a wide fitting 1980's blouson jacket with added A2 pockets and a windlfap. You can certainly call it an 'A2 minus knits' but its origin is more complex. It has no epaulets, the sleeves have underarm gussets and the back has wide and long action pleats with side adjusters, a top yoke but no half-belt.

The Indiana Jones jacket can look cool if you can get one that fits trim. Otherwise it looks like a 1980's "adventure " style jacket your aging and overweight uncle might own. Bless him. Most shoulders on these things are so wide they come a third of the way down your upper arm.

LOL. This is actually a good question. It's certainly not my thing but the HB jacket, forget which movie was actually pretty cool. If I wanted a movie repro of anything, for me, it would have to be a Logan jacket. There is something costume-y about wearing an exact repro tho. Like a cosplay thing. Just my opinion.

You're better off choosing designs from unknown movies, then that cosplay feeling is almost non-existent

I have one too. The problem is that I know it's a film costume copy. That takes some of the fun out of wearing it for me.

Whenever I wear my G&B Expedition Indy jacket, I doubt most people are even aware it is a costume copy or note the drooping shoulders. Honestly, I don't think much about it being a costume copy but am off put by the shoulder seams extending way south of my shoulders, which IMO is a major design flaw, at least with the G&B iteration. Well designed A-2's don't have drooping shoulders.

Seems to depend on whom you ask. The concept artwork, pre-production, showed Indy in an A2, but they wanted to go for something less military. Also, the waist-knit would have fouled the whip, I think. The Indy jacket as we know it certainly bears a lot of resenblence to an A2 minus the knits, but if memory serves Peter Botwright always said it was a "James Dean" jacket design he already had that he adapted with the patch pockets rather than an adapted A2 design per se. Me, I've always viewed it as a knitless A2 that's better for hotter weather.....

I have a hat made from kangaroo hide! Bramah or something... A friend gave it to me because he was too embarrassed to wear it and now I am. But it's a really nice hat and 'roo hide is a really nice hide. Sturdy.

Seems roo isn't all that readily available or used for jackets, which to me, makes it all the more desirable. I'm ignorant of their conservation status but my gut tells me they are akin to deer in availability.
I'd love to have a CR done in roo. If Aero ever has it again it would be hard to resist. Perfect spring/summer jacket and there's just something about it. They are fascinating beasts...would pair well with a platypus grizzly.

Yes, I'd love a Roo jacket for Summer myself. The one in the OP seems a bit on the pricey side for my liking - at that, I'd stick with a Wested - but it's an intriguing hide. Aero has some for a bit, but they never made it an 'official' Aero hide - I know they'll only put something on the website as a stock option once they're sure they can get reliable supplies (I was told that's why they don't do Shinki - Shinki couldn't do bulk orders big enough for them).

I find the same. Ironically, the only time I've ever had an Indy remark, I was wearing a 50s style brown trilby and a USN AN6552. Never a peep about the actual Indy. I tend to wear the Wested with a cap rather than a fedora, though. IME, it's the hat that people see Indy in, often not the jacket.

Too much time spent among the experts here can give you the false sense that ordinary folk recognize classic jacket types, or somehow know military issue vs. film wardrobe... but no. Us jacketeers are a unique breed.

The Raiders jacket is a wonderfully comfortable and practical design. And 1981 is now long enough ago that it's practically a real "vintage classic" too.

actually, I've enjoyed my Wested so much, I'm increasingly tempted by an Aero Royale which is, if anything, a sort of more 'period-crrect' Indy (though based on a genuine original, I believe, rather than the Indy).

Actually, as I said before, the point is this. Regardless of whether it is recognized - I know it is a costume jacket. Spoils the mood for me and it's the reason why I rarely wear mine.

Some time ago Aero stocked kangaroo and I was really eager to get it. Unfortunatelly, I have to pass it as hides were to small for jacket in my size. If it is of any help Johnson leathers and Thedi have acess to roo hide but there must be quite an upcharge?
