Kangaroo jacket, Is it worth it?

Kangaroo is unbelievable tough and light. The real question is: do you want to wear an Indiana Jones jacket?
LOL. This is actually a good question. It's certainly not my thing but the HB jacket, forget which movie was actually pretty cool. If I wanted a movie repro of anything, for me, it would have to be a Logan jacket. There is something costume-y about wearing an exact repro tho. Like a cosplay thing. Just my opinion.

I have a hat made from kangaroo hide! Bramah or something... A friend gave it to me because he was too embarrassed to wear it and now I am. But it's a really nice hat and 'roo hide is a really nice hide. Sturdy.

Seems roo isn't all that readily available or used for jackets, which to me, makes it all the more desirable. I'm ignorant of their conservation status but my gut tells me they are akin to deer in availability.
I'd love to have a CR done in roo. If Aero ever has it again it would be hard to resist. Perfect spring/summer jacket and there's just something about it. They are fascinating beasts...would pair well with a platypus grizzly.

Roos are considered pests by a lot of farmers here. Us city folk still like them though and its always a treat to see them jumping around in the wild when you head out of the urban areas. Having said that, I could be tempted by a Roo Board Racer.....maybe thats what I should hold out for...

 No! Platypus(es) are much MUCH rarer and I've only ever seen a handful in the wild in my entire life...no grizzly for you!

I like watching videos of them on youtube and I know they're considered pests and no different than deer and stuff down under but I honestly can't help but see them as some sort of furry people with tails. They're really anthropomorphic!

LOL. For sure man. I couldn't. They are entirely too cute. I'm amazed you can actually get out of the city and see these creatures. Australia is on my bucket list for must visit places. Frankly if orange monger goes too much further I might just book a one way and cram the fam in the cheapest flight we can find.
TBH I'm not sure I could wear a roo jacket based solely on the fact they are such cool animals. Somehow that feeling doesn't translate to the cow or horse...which are also majestic animals.

It's bright and early Monday morning here, Monitor. Please refrain from using words like anthropomorphic until at least Tuesday mid-afternoon when I'm semi-awake! :p:D

Yeah roos are cool for city folk but they can sure wreck your car if you're not careful driving in the country. One collided with my sister-in-law's car a few years back and it was an insurance write-off. She was lucky she wasn't badly injured, on a country road with a 100 km/h seed limit she was doing just over 60 because of the roos. They come out when the sun starts to go down to graze and hop around.

You can buy roo steaks at the local supermarket. I just can't bring myself to eat the stuff, though.

Fascinating man! Just like deer here in the states. They will hop right out into the road at dusk and cause major damage! Man a roo steak. I'd pass too!
Roo jerky? That's a definite maybe.

Did anybody see the video of the guy punching the kangaroo that had his dog in a headlock? Everyone was really mad about it.

I did hear that the kangaroo only learned to hop after the Europeans colonised the country. Some bright spark came up with the idea of mating them to sheep.
You know where this is going? Best wooly jumpers ever.

Never heard of kangaroo leather, the only exotic leather that I've ever had was back in the early seventies. There was a craze for chamois leather, a vendor in Kensington Market sold chamois leather shirts in 19th century military style. They cost a fortune and went out of fashion as quickly as they came.

I did see that. Dude clocked the roo full force and the roo looked at him like he must be kidding. Sadly, I believe that guy died shortly after from complications from cancer.

Geez i just had to look that up. It wasnt the guy the punched the kangaroo, it was the guy they organized the boar hunt for who died. Thats really unfortunate. That kangaroo did take a pretty good shot though. Im thinking i read somewhere that the leather is waterproof too. Wow im tired of hearing about cancer this week.

You know Tony I have seen kangaroo jerky someplace . . . maybe at one of the weekend markets. I've heard that deer can be quite dangerous, and the males get nasty around mating time - you don't want to mess with the antlers! Big Red roos are like that too, except they tear you up with their feet. Either way you don't want them around your car come dusk.

Haha, woolly jumpers! I like it GHT! Competition for grazing land between sheep and kangaroos is actually what ensures that the latter get culled on a regular basis, and provides the leather for gloves, boots, jackets etc.

They are still enough of a novelty when I see them for me to take a quick pic. I travel to a more rural area with work every 6 weeks or so and these guys were outside my room one morning.
