Thanks I'll ask again, Damon told me the black ripstop is slightly heavier than the heavy satin they carry. Is silk too fragile for a liner for a horse hide jacket?

I think it's Connolly Steerhide, they’re out of business (they used to make the leather for Rolls Royce interiors). There was one on the classifieds here a while back. Wear it hard for twenty years and it might end up like that one!

20 years is a long ways away, hope I can keep that jacket long enough. I was recently breaking in an aero 50s half belt (wore daily for 5 months, slept in it too at times) but someone broke into my car which was a bummer

Is this your natural cxl?

I would not recommend silk for your jacket it will not hold up in the long run. I would only use silk in a lambskin jacket but still would advise against it. Hope this helps.

wouldn't it make the jacket unwearable and you need to spec a much boxier shape to body and sleeve to accommodate that thick liner and thick leather combined, would look weird for a MC jacket?
( I imagine bombsquad jacket)

if you need some padding on top of your shoulder to spread the weight of the jacket evenly or to avoid hurting on pressing points along the seams or something, then have the top of the shoulder lined with that, but the rest of the jacket lined with something else that strong, able to breathe and low profile.

No, it is not a thick lining, it is light and warm. I was going for 22oz wool blend or corduroy but it adds extra 1 or 2 lbs to this jacket. I need a warm jacket.

It does, there's probably a good reason why makers don't recommend that. I'd imagine a costly repair/refining down the road.

waah I don't know... those padding surely will make it a warm. I only have padded liner in a thin sheep and it is already too warm for my climate to wear, and as a liner for my cap, that I wipe down with wetties.

I don’t know about that, but I do know that I just don’t like the look of that last lining you posted. Very boring, I don’t think it’s right for this one of a kind masterpiece. Houndstooth check would be my vote.

Agreed, It's probably not the best that you can make do. Will also be a shame if you can't wear the jacket for extended periods of the year.

Cordura mil-spec camo. That's what they make heavy duty duffel bags, backpacks, and other military gear out of. You can have it quilted to make it warmer. Full bespoke, man.

Nothing can touch this combo.

Flannel, meh. That's what they make pajamas out of. Somehow does not compute with 6-oz leather.
