I just got my Adam Executive, and there's not enough light for pictures. I'll have to remedy that soon. All I can say is... I hope there are a few more left in my size! :D

By the by, mine reported a couple of moth nibbles in the auction. I can't even find them!

Thank you Johnny!

My new Schoble

I just received hat #39 from the auction and it is SUPER!! Johnnyphi's description and photos were spot on and I am a happy puppy.

From this experience, I await more and urge fellow Loungers to dig in.

Thanks for this great hat Johnnyphi.

These schobles sure are beautiful and supple hats I would never have known of this brand if it weren't for Johnnyphi, Gotta love the liner that is in your beautiful brown one, glad it wasn't my size as well ;)

I just paid for my Schoble Superiore today. I'll post pics when it arrives. These were great hats that were manufactured in Philalephia PA right near to Stetson.
The company made great hats for a long time.

Scion, I used a basic conditioner I picked up at Target, it's called zymol. I found it in the automotive aisle. It's got Vitamin E, aloe vera, neatsfoot, and collagen. I figured a cream like that would be better than something more synthetic. It doesn't appear to have hurt the band at all, it's a bit softer now. I just compared the Adam's sweat to by Akubra's and the Akubra's is much more supple and soft. Hopefully with enough conditioner the Adam's will get to that point. Just don't get it on the felt if it's a light color! I was being careful but got some on the brim and crown anyway, now I'm trying to work the stain out. It's not bad, but I want this guy to look its best you know?

Analogist, Who is that in your avatar? Kinda freaks me out. lol

Picture in my avatar is of course, me. It is my Bar Mitzvah portrait and I am wearing my first mink coat.

Don't be freaked out by beauty.

The coat has lost some hair and has a tinge of grey but I still look as youthful as ever. For those Loungers who have seen me, I'm sure you can attest to this.

Be careful, it's not dust...

I agree that brushing is important, but I'm pretty sure you were dealing with powder dye...

I found the same issue when I first started working with the hats, but I learned (from the Lounge) that the manufacturers often used a powder dye to even-out the color on the lighter color hats. It looks like dust while you're dusting the hat, but as you discovered, the color will begin to change if you continue to dust.

All of these hats were stored inside boxes, so they were not too dusty to begin with. Plus, I brushed all of them for the photo shoot. In fact, I used an air compressor to remove dust from most of the hats (pretty good way to remove dust, if you're careful), so they shouldn't have any major dust problems.

Just a note for those of you who already have your hats, be sure to brush them! I gave mine a few swipes to get packing paper bits off of it and ended up brushing off 50 years worth of dust! It changed the color a bit once it was all off.

Man, oh man...

Very astute... I DID find lots of great vintage clothes, and I also found a very nice couple who owns a movie wardrobe company in Upstate New York. They flew to DC, and brought their checkbook. So... Next time we see vintage BVDs in a movie, we'll wonder if those are Johnnyphi BVDs. You can see the whole saga, if you visit this link - http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=26205

Long story short... I kept the hats to sell to you fine folks!

I see a BVD shirt box stowed away in the back and some nice windowpane pattern coats on a rack. Are/where those for sale too?

Very nice, NB. I like the hat...the color, the ribbon, the wide binding. Looks great on you. Welcome to the club.

Changing my avatar...

This hat is the open crowned 7 1/4 Stetson that didn't get any bids during the first auction.

I took a turn at creasing it a few months ago... what do you think?

Nice hat. I really regret not bidding on that one.
