Hi community! I have been yearning for the carcoat in this picture. I believe it is a Schott 533us but I am not certain. Any insight or tips would be much appriciated. If it is a 533us, did they come in different sizes for usa and japan? I have been all over mercari, buyee, reddit etc. I found an old advent from Three Wood that suggested I would need a size 40 (if i actually can find this coat), but I have a perfecto in size 36 which is my size, so I assume japanese models run smaller? Did Shott sell these in both Japan and USA? I am from Sweden and are quite clueless of where to go from here. My googling skills are of no more help. I have never posted here before, just lurking for some time. But my desire outgrew my shyness. Help!

Can't help on the sizing, but yes, it looks like an old 533. The jacket currently listed on Schott's website as a 533 is a cross-zip, Perfecto variant. Odd choice of redeployment of the model number, but hey ho. The current equivalent of the one you're looking at is listed as a 544, but while a similar style, it's vey definitely shorter (a 27" backlength average), so won't have the look quite the same as in those photos.

Unless you're particularly wedded to buying a Schott specifically, though, there are lots of options out there for this style, particularly used which could keep the price well down. Worth having a look around. The main thing you'll want to be careful about if you're buying at a distance is that the fit is what you want. The jacket in the first photo is clearly cut to be worn like a blazer: a closer, neater fit than you'll get on one cut to be worn as an overcoat. Both fits have their place, but the one won't give the look of the other if that's what you're after.

Did a quick search and found a post from Scott in 2019, looks the same...

"533US is our leather car coat made from pebbled cowhide with flannel lining. Also available in brown. Now available at the LA store."

Yes, that's the same jacket. At some point in the last few years it's been dropped from the line-up, but they are still floating about on the used market if it has to be Schott.
