I cannot find white tie waistcoat. What to do?

It's my wedding in about a few weeks and I'm quite adamant about wearing morning dress and white tie for the occasion. The morning dress is fine, however, when it comes to my evening dress, the waistcoat is missing. For context, I live in an environment where the formal wear is practically non existent, the most formal you'd ever see the normal folks wear would be a mismatched black tie. My evening suit was found through thrifting but it didn't have with the waistcoat, and I've struggled to find one ever since.

I've tried asking every tailoring house within my budget range and none are willing to make it, and preferably so. The more high end tailors do make them although the quoted price is equivalent to almost the average national salary, which is not feasible. I've yet to try international shipping due to very high import taxes, and that it might not arrive on time.

I do have my black tie suit and would probably have to wear them if nothing could be done about the current situation, though that would be a great shame given that this is probably the only ever time I get the excuse to wear white tie. What are my options? Any help is much appreciated.

With black tie (I think that is what you are referring to), I prefer a cummerbund to a waist coat. You might try to find one of those, but I think you would have better luck finding a waistcoat on eBay.

I was referring to white tie, though I do prefer a cummerbund when wearing black tie. If I buy from eBay right now they won't be here until May, by then it's too late.

Well, then, if your city is large enough to have a formal clothes rental store, go there and see if they have a used waistcoat for sale. They almost always have retired rental stock they want to move on.

Years ago that is exactly what I did when I spilled a bit of red wine on my white waistcoat. The cost was negligible compared to a new one.

I tried that as well since there are many rental shops around, but they only have black tie, thus black tie waistcoat for rent, as far as I know there's not a single rental store in the country that offers white tie, as I've asked my local sartorial community both online and in offline meetings. Finding white tie pieces is ridiculously hard if not nearly impossible for some reason. And also, I have never seen anyone in my community wearing white tie before.

White tie events are rare, and have been for the past 50 years or so. Black tie events are the norm.

Normally, I wear white tie only once a year. Not surprised you are having difficulty. If you were in a large city, or even a mid size city that was social, it would be easier. Nashville is mid size, but it is social..

what part of the world are you in old chap, would make it easier to narrow down your options
South East Asia. I probably will have to go with black tie now as there's nothing I can really do given the time constraint. It's a real shame since this is probably the only time I get the excuse to wear white tie.

I've always been very pleased with the bits I've had from Darcy in the past - never bought one of these, though. I've also been pleased with Clermont Direct https://www.clermontdirect.com/cotton-white-marcella-waistcoat-p-132.html - the caveat being CD's version of this I usually find going a size or so small gets a better line with the tailcoat (rather than the waistcoat hanging lower than the front line of the tailcoat). Not sure whether Darcy's version corrects this 'modern' problem or not. CD are cheaper enough that the saving is worth it if you can work around the length issue, though if Darcy have solved this, the upcharge is worth it.

Looks like this might not be an option for OP, but thought it would be useful to have this information here for others.
