How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Also coming next week: ELMC Californian in Havana Brown, picked up during the ongoing clearance sale.

So I just received my ELMC Californian and I have to say it's lived up to my expectations! The leather on this is fantastic. It feels like the leather that Vicenza wants to be. It makes the jacket very comfortable and easy to wear. I usually feel like half belts fit me weirdly but this one feels and looks real nice. Some quick fit pics.

A few things to note:

1. I thought I would be getting a unibody collar, this was not the case. I can't say for certain, but it seems there may be different specs depending on the ELMC stockist, so do check beforehand if it's a deal-breaker for you.
2. The sleeves are trim at the upper arm and loose at the cuff. While it doesn't affect the comfort, it does make the sleeve look more tubular and not very tapered-looking.

No big deal... It's still a great jacket and I think it fits the bill of what I'm looking for at the moment.

However...

I noticed that the stitching near the collar isn't so perfect. There is a line of empty stitch holes at the top of the splay collar. The edge where this happened is also significantly thicker than the other side that was stitched perfectly.

Upon further inspection, I found that the stitching had missed the leather that was folded in and it is able to be pulled out from the seam, exposing more stitches. I'm not trying to poke holes at it but I wonder if this would be exacerbated with more use.

Still, it ***** but it's not a deal-breaker. I can live with it and be perfectly happy wearing the jacket. I'm still in love with it and don't want to let something small like this ruin it for me but I was just curious to see what the lounge thinks. I got it a great deal but even then, after paying close to a grand, is it something I should overlook?

I also want to point out that the folks I got this jacket from have been great to work with and very accommodating thus far.

Would you guys consider this a big enough flaw to the point of wanting to return it?

I reckon it wouldn't hurt to bring it up with the vendor, their page says "All are new, unworn, and complete with factory warranty." Worst they can do is say no, personally I would be a little bit bothered with it.

Fit looks fantastic by the way, hopefully you can come to an agreement with them.

Through the years Eastman experimented with different ways of doing the collar on their Californian. I owned half a dozen of these, the oldest ones were folded over, newer ones had a French seam, my newest one (black) only has a single topstitch.

I think it's easy easy to fix, just glue it back in place. Make sure to use leather glue which is flexible.

Yea I've reached out and based on the same photos I posted here, their initial assessment is that it isn't a defect. They've agreed to look further into it though, so I sent a short video to provide more clarity.

I agree that the fit is great and I'm definitely not looking to return. Perhaps an exchange if there's another in stock, but wouldn't mind just accepting it the way it is as well. Let's see what happens.

I see. That's good to know! Didn't realise they have been changing construction methods. The only pictures I've seen are on Instagram and on TFL and most if not all of them have the more streamlined unibody construction which I prefer.

That's a good idea. Thanks Marc. Not something I'd expect to do on a brand new jacket but it may fix the problem, if it comes to that.

I have for years tried to find this jacket in good condition, my size, and without an extortionate price tag.

FINALLY, it arrived today - the Belstaff Howard aviator jacket.

View attachment 620725

Nice. Belstaff did a nice job on making this one look period - the sleeve logo aside. (I wonder if they ever released a version without it? AFAIK, they also supplied the screen-worn jacket(s), sans logo). What's the hide? Looks like's it's got a nice drape, something akin to goat.

Forgive me for non jackets..

Yen is so weak right now, the value is crazy. I got two teacore bags made by small solo makers (Standard Motorcycle Leathers and High Notch)

Plan to use them on my motorcycle and as a weekend bag to dodge the man purse allegations.

It's definitely bag weather.... I've had the rare pleasure of a few colder, wet June days here in London this last week, but from today it does look more like we're going to have another heatwave. Unable to wear a jacket in hot weather, a bag becomes invaluable.... I've mostly been using a Wested Indy bag recently. Full repop of the original, down to the correct interior divisions and tamp on the underside of the flap. They also do a leather version now.... torn between the black and the brown, though doubtless I'll eventually end up with both. At least one of them will be justifiable easily, as it's got none of the internal divisions of the canvas model, so can fit bigger stuff. I'm guessing still a bit smaller overall than that second one in your photo? Tempted by something a little bigger as well, though the danger there is of course the bigger the bag, the more stuff I'll inevitably carry...

Waiting on this California Sportswear jacket which looks in pretty much deadstock condition o_O

Lovely score! I've really come to like shiny brass on a black bike jacket.... Got my eye on an Aero that spec at some point, though it'll be a while away yet. Decided recently my old 618 is just neater than I really like, after all, so that's going on sale soon to fund a replacement of some sort. Was considering an Aero Indian Racer, but have fallen in with a good used deal on another, larger, 618, so if that works out something else from my wants list will likely trump the IR. Most likely the remake of my old Bootlegger which is just too small for me now, fifteen odd years later.

Ton, nice fit on those! I fished this *** check and peacoat out of the bay last fall. And my old Guess leather jacket.

Should arrive tomorrow - the seller was kind enough to send it 3 day FedEx (I bought it from eBay but he’s a fellow lounger).

This jacket has passed through a few loungers’ hands already but has yet to find the right shoulders to fit. This will be my first horsehide and my first Lost World (it’s not tagged, but everyone agrees it’s LW) and I hope it fits me.

I’ll get it just in time to put it in storage and leave the country for the rest of the year.
