Hello! First time caller, long time listener here.. this forum has been a great resource but I figured I would finally make an account as I may have something to contribute... About three years ago now I bought a Buzz Rickson William Gibson horsehide peacoat, I had been eyeing it for a while and thought it was long sold out until one miraculously appeared for sale. I snatched it up only to be evisceratingly disappointed, particularly in the 'tea-core' finish of the hide which quickly became a mottled brown mess! The coat fit nicely and the construction is great but I just couldn't get over such a cheap looking finish on a supposedly premium product.
The search thus continued and I last year acquired a very lovely Made in UK 'Indian Motorcycle Co.' half belt in a pitch black chrome tanned steerhide. Around the same time I stumbled upon LOST WORLDS and resolved that, though I would continue plumbing used listings.. the answer would probably in the end be Lost Worlds. Now I've just wrapped up the process of spec'ing a coat with Stuart and should have it in 4-6 weeks, I'll certainly post some photographs here when it comes in! In the meantime I'm hoping to move this Buzz Rickson.
I took delivery yesterday of my horsehide Lost Worlds vintage trench and it is everything I thought it would be and more! Stuart was wonderful to work with and accommodating when I inquired about changing the size of the coat shortly before it went into production. The fit is absolutely fantastic and the grain of the hide is unlike anything I've seen before, total old world vibe! This weekend I'll take some nice photographs I don't want to post anything here that wouldn't do it justice.

Went a little crazy this week since I got a new job. Just received this Double Helix Deviant in my usual size 42. Anyone else thinks it looks a size too big? I could layer a hoodie underneath comfortably.

Also coming next week: ELMC Californian in Havana Brown, picked up during the ongoing clearance sale.

I wouldn't want the sleeves any shorter. Maybe once the leather relaxes a bit it'll look less rigid. I think you're slightly between sizes but a size down would be too small. It certainly doesn't look oversized. It looks great zipped up.

That's what I was thinking. My monkey arms will make the sleeves on a size 40 too short. I certainly didn't expect it to fit this roomy though, given the measurements. Yet another example of how numbers don't tell the whole story. All in all, still really happy with it.

is that made of schott's regular steerhide? The leather looks quite different (in a good way)
It is indeed made of steerhide according to the official website but I agree with you it looks different in a good way. Maybe it looks like this in the photos not sure, it is a bit of a gamble but wanted to see it in person :)

The leather reminds me a lot more of Schott's naked cowhide (think it's the deepness of the black) rather than the steerhide. Do post a photo here when you receive it!

Looks great. A fit I would be very happy with. Leather looks pretty beefy. All in all a great jacket!
