How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

hi guys
I'd never owned a really nice jacket before and was unsure of where to look. Obviously every store is going to say that they happen to stock the very best, so I was hoping to find some honest opinions from those without skin in the game. out of desperation, after a long search, I stumbled across fedoralounge and for someone who is pretty obsessive it was a nirvana so that you all so much for contributing.

something that someone said really stuck with me - that if I was going to go for it then I should really go for it otherwise I'd be stuck with a jacket that I really liked but didn't love. anyway that got me digging into various types of leather, various manufacturers. and then after that the various processes. I found a jacket I liked but it was chrome tanned and after digging around I decided that that wasn't something I wanted.

I was also made very aware, through reading this site, that the fit can make all the difference. this is where I became a little unstuck because all the makes I was keen to try on didn't have actual stores in London.

but then, late last night, I stumbled upon The Real McCoys store only a few miles away. I spent hours on the site and felt like a kid in a candy store. I was at the store at opening time and it was like walking into a bit of heaven. I tried on the 6 or 7 styles I was keen to have a look at and fell deeply compulsively in love with 2, one of which has definitely been mentioned on here quite a bit:

30s leather sports jacket (nelson)

as well as

Buco J-100 (padded)

now I've always wanted jackets like these but felt I couldn't justify the price. but the way I see it now, having seen so many photos on here and elsewhere of TRM jackets that are 20+years old . . . well, these are jackets I will wear, without the desire to upgrade, for the rest of my life.

Got a previously-owned, but basically unworn Thedi shawl collar (sort of A-1 style) in black Italian cowhide on route to me.

Always liked Thedi, but figured I'd have to order custom because Thedi's off-the-rack configurations were always out of whack for my measurements. Closest I could come with those would be **XL, which would still be: a little tight in the chest, too short, and have sleeves *way* too long.

But then I saw this one for sale - it was a custom order with very good measurements for me that the owner said he bought a few years ago, put in the closet, and pretty much never wore.

I'm looking forward to receiving it soon:

Hey Omar, thanks for sharing! I am a big fan of RMC myself, and the jackets you chose are true classics. Enjoy them and treat TFL with pictures of you with them in the wild!

Good choice. One of Thedis finest designs, IMO. Good luck with the measurements. All I can say is that Theodoros is a magician. He can make a 21" P2P feel like 23" easily...

I haven't decided yet (didn't want to post in Finds and Deals section) because I have never owned and handled a Schott leather jacket before. I'm about to pull the trigger for the khaki Goat Suede Schott Aviator A-2 jacket with detachable shearling collar. Price has been reduced to 319€ - not sure if it's a real deal but I like it. Even if I'm usually not an A-2 jacket guy.

I'm not Tom71, but I suspect he was referring to the waist hem of the jacket. It appears from your pic that you have a very slim waist, but the jacket is cut with a very generous waist...so it does look quite big on you in that particular area. However, I agree with Tom71 that the jacket is lovely! And it seems to fit you very nicely in the shoulders, chest and sleeve length!

i see what you’re saying. but to be honest, probably because i was a really fat kid, i always prefer clothes that are slightly bigger as long as the shoulders fit and the chest isn’t too tight. i actually tried the size larger afterwards and the look of horror on the shop assistant’s face was priceless: very much a “i can’t let you do that” look

Yes, I was referring to the generous waist-hem of the jacket. That wasn´t meant as critisim at all. Jacket, outfit, your whole attitude is just perfect as it is. I actually like how a slightly too big/too small/too this or that-item makes the whole look appear more authentic and less "artificially curated". (c.f. The Ramones in their early days).
