Agreed. Red easily can pull it off. Just make sure one piece of the ensemble has sleeves please. That helps.

Kind of reminds me of Angus beef and American Kobe and how they compare to prime and choice, etc. Obviously it gets more complicated with dry age vs wet age, and then how long the ageing period. And then whole other tiers with true wagyu. 10 people are going to put it in their mouth and have 10 different opinions. Some people might not like the concentration of flavors, or the extra fat, or the texture of one vs. the other. Good luck convincing any one of them what is the so called "best".

Australian Wagyu Ribeye hands down. Japanese A5 Wagyu is too rich -- its like a dessert. American Wagyu ain't much different than an aged, bone-in non-wagyu ribeye. Australian Wagyu Ribeye blends the best of both worlds -- rich, fatty, and flavorful, but not so rich as to overwhelm like Japanese A5 Wagyu. Unfortunately, its hard to find Australian Wagyu. For those in SoCal, I have some great recommendations.

I literally managed to overdose on Kobe wagyu A5 in Japan. Had it a few times in a week, and for months a mere thought of it prompted a gagging reflex (well, almost).

But wait what? You can get a Columbia without the tail?

Yes, the 1947 Columbia has a straight back, in addition to some other differences from the modern Columbia (different lapels, pocket placement and top stitching, sleeve zipper placement, etc.). Langlitz will make your jacket with any, or all, of these features if you would like.
If you do opt for a straight back then be sure to confirm the measurement you would like since this is not how they normally build the Columbia these days.

It's cool, it's fun but it's too large just about everywhere. If it was just a simple CR, I guess it'd be okay but for a statement piece such as this, I strongly believe this jacket's gotta be absolutely perfect in size (and silhouette) in order for you to get away with whatever insanity it's got going on - in this case, fringes. In other words, it's gotta look like it's your jacket.

But it's just what I think and I don't think it looks bad on you so. . .

I regret cutting off my fringe in a way, but trimming it about 1/2 way would have been a reasonable solution to my wannabe rockstar issues. Still, it is a strong look- one I was only comfortable showing off here. Once de-fringed, I haven’t worn it once...and I live with the shame of “ruining” it.

If you use one of their boxes, yes. But the pricing seems to have gone up for non—USPS boxes. Maybe I’m crazy, probably am, but I was shocked at the price when I shipped out a jacket in a box I had last week. I used FedEx Home instead.

Up here in Canada whenever I ship anything out I’ve been using net parcel. It usually gives me a courier price that’s almost always cheaper than the post, and way cheaper than the standard courier prices.

@Monitor yeah it is bigger in pretty much every dimension than I’d like, but above all the length is just way more than I can handle.

With soft tape I measured

Chest 22.5-23
Shoulder 19
Waist 20.5
Hem 21
Front to zip 21
Front to hem 24
Sleeve straight 26.5
Sleeve around curve 28
Length from BOC 27

Which are all bigger/longer than what the seller provided. The width dimensions kinda push the limit of what I’d accept. Length, however is another story.

The sleeves are so long on me that when I push them up my wrist they cause the shoulder to push up and create wild wrinkles up top.

The question is whether shortening the sleeves (and likely the body up to the zipper base) would be effective in making this wearable for me, or would just be throwing good money after bad. I kinda think it would help but not sure. Btw Damon quoted about $350 for the work.

Total Rockstar! The jacket looked very cool in the action shots. I think it can work because all I saw was fringe and didn't notice the length at first. I like it how it's grey core so gives the whole thing more depth instead just black struck through. Very cool.

Thanks for the tips! Reading the past posts about Langlitz really had me worried about the back length. But going in for that 75th anniversary tag.

Agreed, finding that special batch of leather is a lot of fun.

I originally bought it to use it on a car coat type of jacket, but ended not using it. I am thinking of bringing a few of the hides to Electric Leather Studio - whenever that becomes possible - to make a lightning or a flow. But I will have quite a bit leftover... so maybe a crosszip and a vest would be a good idea. I need to explore vests, not sure I can pull them off.

Electric Leather makes so very cool stuff. I don't think I have ever seen a multi piece CXL jacket. It would be a statement jacket for sure. Can't wait to see what you got coming with that CXL leather!

There are things I have not tried YET, and then there are things I will NEVER try. I haven't YET tried a cross-zip, but I might. I haven't yet flown into space but, at the current pace of technological advancement, I might before I die. On the other hand, I can confidently say that I will never wear a fully fringed leather jacket. Simply put , I lack the huevos. Same goes for Grizzly jackets. I genuinely appreciate the craftsmanship and salute those with the moxie, but that style also falls soundly in the never category.

One of the great attributes of this community is the incredible diversity of aesthetic preferences. Some like moto jackets, others prefer military. Some like fringes, others prefer car coats. TFL is the only place I am aware of where we can come together as a community and speak honestly with other rogue deviants about our passion without judgment.

So who will be first to try one of the more avant garde brands -- e.g., MA+ or Guidi. I must admit that I like a few of the styles, but I am not there yet (and my time may have passed).
