I started to post these in Cowboy Boots but I figured the name might be more familiar here. Not vintage in the sense of being old but they come from a shop that continues to produce show pieces with that vintage look and these appear to be Piteado, an art that's all but disappeared.

From the sellers description: This is a rare black and gold Nudie suit made April 12, 1958, item #3739 and owned by Fred Otash, LA's most infamous private detective and inspiration for Jack Nicholson's character Jake Gittes in the film Chinatown.

I have a thing for these early western shirts but my buying luck was so bad that I gave up trying to add any to the closet a few years ago but I'm always looking. This one ticked a lot of boxes for me and I followed it on the bay as it was auctioned. I'm glad this one was too small or I might have taken a swipe at it. I really like the hounds tooth yokes and red piping.

I've never studied the history of the H Bar C/ California Ranch wear labels but this looks like it could be an early one to me. Maybe some of you guys know.
