Love the Gene Autry repro . . . I think I've seen the original in one of the Western wear books I have. I have two good picture books on vintage Western style: How The West Was Worn, and Hillbilly Hollywood.

I'm like you, DH. I love this stuff and would like to see this thread active again.

I have a few vintage style western shirts from Rockmount and Scully. This one is also a Rockmount reproduction of a Gene Autry shirt, from the '30s I think. I bought it several years ago and have never taken it out of the plastic.

Here's one of your's truly in one of my very first Western outfits taken when I was 4 or 5 years old (I guess that would make it vintage now). My mother took me to have my portrait made and she had brought along a suit for me to I change into, but I insisted on the cowboy outfit. The Photographer agreed to take photos both ways and he later said that this was one of his favorite photos of his career. He in fact made his own life-size copy to hang on display in his lobby as a sample of his work. He told us years later that many people over the years would ask if that was a portrait of a child star.

By the way, any of you tailoring types on here know anything about those old chain-stitch embroidery machines and where I might pick one up fairly cheap?

Here's a photo (below) of the Gene Autry shirt that my shirt above is supposed to be a copy of. Not an exact reproduction but "inspired" for sure. The light fabric of his looks more tan than off-white, and the piping of his looks golden where on mine it's red.

Here's most of my vintage western themed necktie collection. It's not a lot, but it's what I got.

I wear Wrangler shirts and jeans with boots and a Stetson hat with the tear drop or fedora style crease on a normal basis. I also wear the Justin hat with cattleman's crease for a dress hat when I go dancing or just out on the town. I also wear a fedora called the Casablanca and is based on one of Bogie's fedoras. It is gray and is my favorite. I wear that when I really dress up in three piece suit. I also wear a brown fedora based on the hat worn by Indiana Jones as a beat around town or traveling hat.
