Where do you source the material from?

LA's garment district, particularly B. Black & Sons. Although I've recently been lucky at a local fabric store which had about 10 single-yard end pieces of the tan/black houndstooth fabric for $4 a yard; I waited for their annual 50% sale and walked out with 6 yards of wool gabardine for a measly $12!

Going back to the question Dinerman asked at the beginning of this thread, here is a three-piece houndstooth that recently sold on eBay:

The price got a little too rich for my blood at $360. Just my size too!

I think it is a great "country" or "shooting" suit. I would have worn it anywhere, except, of course, in the city. Those of us who enjoy The Chap would have a ball with it.

IMHO, I think this is very much a "country squire" look and has none of the "betting shop sharpie" associations that Marc referred to earlier. The Fall color palate (tan/rust/olive) of the check makes all the difference.

Imagine the same suit in black and white or black and grey, in a light, slick fabric; and immediatey you have the "betting shop sharpie".

What do others think?

Resortes305: Yeah, well done!!! You pull it off quite well...the pants look quite high-waisted...just right. I also have a blue one like this I am waiting for to ship. To me this says, "I'm styling, but not trying too hard."

I haven't yet received the one I pictured. I am afraid it may be too small.

Here's a pic of that same sports coat on it's own.

Yeah...I have been particularly bothered by losing that one. I forgot about the auction, but was VERY intent on winning that one.
