Hello!

Again I dig out this thread to show you what a great job Aero did on my replacement of the 1950's Flight Jacket (this time it is horse! Black front quarter horse hide!).

It is a tag size 36 (shoulder: 18") with customisation of the sleeve length (27.5") and the body length (26.5"). No patch pockets, only the side entry pockets, inside pocket on the right side, name tag sewn in the lining under the original Aero label.

For reference:
Shoulders, around at armpit level 110,5 cm / 43.5”
chest, around at armpit level (with half-breath) 96 cm / 37.8”
Abdomen, above navel 83 cm / 32.7”
Abdomen, pant waist line 85 cm / 33.5”
Arm length, from snug t-shirt seam to wrist 63,5 cm / 25”
Weight (U.S. pounds) 74 kg / 163 pounds
Height (U.S. inches) 184 cm / 72.5”

That's a cracking looking jacket. Is that the Happy Days model? I had a hankering for one of those in black, mid-weight horse with a red rayon lining, but then I fell in with my steer (the European Steer, I believe - same thickness as the FQHH but much more pliable, not the armour-like chrome-tanned horse) Apprentice-Madee Highwayman, which fills the role I intended for that one... for now.... I like the fit of yours a lot. What lining did you go with?

Customs and Christine at Aero confirmed delivery of my original back to them on March 4th, but I was told I'd have to wait for Holly to "sort it out." I've got my fingers crossed. Your jacket is exceptionally nice and much prefer it over the A-2, and love the overall fit too. Your recent HWM and 50's Flight jacket without flap pockets are :arated: in my book!

Aero didn't (although my jacket is now very near to their Happy Days).

The patch pockets on the 1950's Flight Jacket are essential if you like the classical bomber jacket style of the fifties. But in my opinion for a slim figured man like me the patch pockets are too much (my very first 1950's had them) - esprecially if you fill them.

Take care to size down (if you are slim figured), because the cut is more "loosely" and offers a bit more room than an A-2 from pre-war time.

Quote from Aero's webpage:
"These are cut from our typical 1950's pattern block, same as we use for all our jackets of that era, the cut "loosely" resembles the style of the Type A2, but with that wee bit more room retaining that typical authentic "fliers" look, yet with more comfort and movement than the WW2 Type A-2."

Looks fantastic Johannes..Aero have improved so much since Kens return.my two new jackets are perfect.My storse jackets were both made by claire forsyth..surely when the hide was put in front of her she would have noticed that none of it matched.colour wise & thickness !im really glad that julie leitch stayed with aero & takes more pride in her work.
